Climber Summary

We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused Climber to support tree pruning, removal, and maintenance operations. This role requires strong technical climbing ability, attention to safety, and the physical endurance to work in demanding outdoor conditions. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment and takes pride in high-quality, efficient work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely climb trees using ropes, harnesses, spikes, and other climbing equipment to perform pruning, trimming, and removals
  • Cut, prune, and remove tree limbs according to industry standards, client specifications, and safety protocols
  • Perform tree trimming, pruning, and removals following ANSI and company best practices
  • Safely operate chainsaws, handsaws, rigging gear, aerial lifts, and other equipment while working at heights
  • Set up, inspect, and maintain climbing and rigging equipment
  • Lower branches, limbs, and debris safely using ropes and rigging techniques
  • Assess tree condition and determine proper approach for maintenance or removal
  • Coordinate closely with Foreman, Bucket Operator, and ground crew to ensure efficient and safe job execution
  • Assist with ground operations, job site setup, cleanup, and debris removal as needed
  • Follow all safety protocols, including proper PPE use and OSHA compliance
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and, when needed, professionally with clients
Qualifications
  • 1–3+ years of experience in tree climbing or professional arboriculture (preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of tree care practices, climbing techniques, and rigging systems
  • Experience operating chainsaws and tree care equipment
  • Familiarity with ANSI and OSHA safety standards
  • Ability to work long hours, including outside normal business hours when needed
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred)
  • ISA Certified Arborist or TCIA credentials (preferred but not required
Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to wear required PPE at all times
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining tools and equipment
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 10 lbs frequently and up to 50–70 lbs as needed
  • Ability to pull body weight and climb trees up to 20 feet or more
  • Ability to work at heights and maintain balance while climbing
  • Frequent gripping, pulling, pushing, bending, and squatting
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to climb on and off trucks and equipment
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and temperatures
  • Must meet weight limitations for hydraulic buckets
