About the Position

The Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for enhancing the overall Resident and family experience through the provision of the nursing care and leadership required to ensure the health and well-being of residents who depend on Grand Living for assistance. In addition to providing direct care and administering medications to residents who have orders from an attending physician to be admitted for Assisted Living care per state regulations, a Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for ensuring the evaluation and clinical competence of assigned nursing personnel, assisted living aides, and medication aides by participation in orientation, education, teaching and supervision of staff through frequent rounding. This is to be handled in The Sterling Touch® friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner in all interactions, resulting in a very high level of Resident and team member satisfaction. The Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse position is under the general guidance of the Director of Health and Wellness in accordance with Community standards, processes, procedures, practices, and philosophy.

Qualifications and Requirements

The Licensed Vocational Nurse must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing, required.
  • Three or more years’ nursing experience, preferred.
  • Assisted living or home health care experience, preferred.
  • Must be a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse in the state of employment, required
  • Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate.
  • Ability to read, write and understand the English language in order to educate, train and supervise staff; meet with residents and their families to facilitate appropriate assessments and development of personalized care plans; utilize and train others on operational software for delivery of care documentation and record keeping; and communicate with other employees effectively.
  • Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, crouch, bend, stoop, reach, grasp, push, pull and work continuously without sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift or carry up to thirty (30) pounds.
