Summary
Responsible for providing leadership and developing the career of our field employees and the promotion of our core values: honesty, safety, quality, and teamwork. The Service Manager leads the local branch operation, is responsible for selling work, strives to grow operations, and maintains a positive customer base and experience. The Service Manager is also responsible for general construction management duties - estimation, project management of service jobs, scheduling, paperwork, and communication - and manages every one of their jobs from receipt of the purchase order through final completion and billing.

Mission and Key Performance Targets
  • Lead the local operation with a target minimum of 10 roof techs
  • Maintain a disciplined approach to safety:
    • Specifically address a safety plan on all jobsites in advance of job start
    • Incorporate a safety inspection whenever conducting jobsite visits
  • Meet financial metrics - target a minimum 20% net income
  • Meet quality control (QC) standards as set by the Company
  • Establish career paths with all branch employees, to be reviewed quarterly
  • Refrain from any side work unless specifically approved in advance by the Service Director
  • Maintain a legal, drug-free workplace

Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
  • Comply with all Company Roofing Safety Policies
  • Evaluating multiple types of both low slope and steep slope roofing
  • Diagnosing problems on roofs and providing solutions to the problems
  • Manage customer relations and build/maintain a positive customer base

  • Hire and train employees; conduct employee evaluations

  • Weekly Meetings with Your Team
    • Scrub timesheets and submit via email
    • Conduct Toolbox Talks and submit via email
    • Review information daily/weekly with your crew
  • Field Management System
    • Review and correct work orders (add photos, materials, written descriptions)
    • Complete Daily Reports for all 500-series jobs
    • Complete inspections, both from phone and laptop
    • Set up properties/outlines (excluding billing notes)
  • Estimates/Proposals
    • Compose a through Scope of Work for estimating
    • Complete accurate estimates
    • Prepare a written Proposal/Master Service Agreement (MSA)
    • Complete Change Orders with an update Scope of Work and Estimate/Proposal
  • Email & Communication
    • Construct clear, professional emails with appropriate attachments
    • Remain vigilant and responsive to all emails, texts, and calls- timely response is required
  • Job Management (Start to Finish)
    • Set up jobs immediately upon receipt of a Purchase Order
    • Build a complete job schedule
    • Order materials
    • Confirm labor assignments

    • Complete, deliver and maintain accurate Material Transfer Orders
  • PIN Notices & Warranty Documents
    • Complete Pre-Installation Notices (PINs) for all warranty jobs
    • Maintain working knowledge of the types of warranties proposed to clients
  • Company Credit Cards & Reporting
    • Maintain and organize company credit card receipts
    • Complete monthly bank/credit card reports for your office before the 10th of each month
  • Vehicle & Site Inspections
    • Complete company vehicle inspections on every service vehicle before the 10th of each month
    • Visit jobsites weekly to evaluate safety, quality and efficiency
  • Hiring & Office Growth
    • Interview and hire new roofers; complete new hire orientations
    • Meet with local clients and vendors to grow the office
    • Complete take-offs to generate additional work
    • Listen to and engage customers; identify their needs and propose solutions
    • Develop job site plans covering safety, loading/unloading the roof, dumpster placement, etc.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage a call center, manage a crew of individuals that consist of roofers, foreman and helpers/laborers, as well as any duties associated with maintaining business to the company standards.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • High School Diploma or GED plus five years in a commercial roofing environment.
  • Considerable knowledge of various commercial roofing systems, materials, and installation methods.
  • Good knowledge of state and local building codes including Uniform Building Code, and electrical and plumbing codes.
  • Some knowledge of construction site development; commercial construction, demolition, and remodel procedures.
  • Experience determining roof types and estimating materials, hours, and replacement costs for commercial roofing projects
