Job description

SUMMARY:
This role will work with existing staff to efficiently route and dispatch retail delivery trucks. Works closely with drivers, customer service and the service department and in some cases with the customer. May have to work rotating weekends during the high demand periods of business. This position requires a strong work ethic and a good attendance record.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
  • Working with District Managers to ensure drivers are in compliance with Department of Transportation HOS Regulations and that proper paperwork is completed such as Daily Vehicle Inspections and monthly Meter Creep Test.
  • Be the primary contact person for drivers to make sure that any issues or assistance is given in a timely manner and questions are handled.
  • Route trucks on a daily basis to ensure that customer expectations and delivery goals are met.
  • Review route progress during the day, make adjustments as needed: including adding stops and or call-ins.
  • Communicate with drivers through both computer communications and phones as needed.
  • Review completed deliveries to make sure K-Factors/Daily Use and schedules are updated to maximize delivery efficiencies.
  • Create schedules to effectively use the driver/truck resources.
  • Audit/ correct work locations and departments
  • Assist drivers with technical issues on the Toughpad/ Android and troubleshoot accordingly.
  • Update customer accounts with notes that pertain to issues that occurred during or after delivery and forward issues to appropriate departments.
  • Review remote monitors to ensure that tickets are created as necessary and that key business accounts are delivered in a timely manner as well as metered tanks.

SKILLS & EXPEREINCE:
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Two years of dispatching with computerized routing experience preferred
  • Geographical knowledge of the Tri Gas & Oil Retail Delivery Area
  • Overall understanding of retail operations including the poultry segment of our business
  • Proficient in Windows Operating System, Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, decision making, multitasking skills
  • Ability to maintain composure in difficult situation

WORKING CONDITIONS / EXPECTATIONS:
This job operates in a professional office environment as well as in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
While performing the duties of this job in the field, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions due to weather conditions.

This is largely a sedentary role. The employee will sit and or stand a majority of their shift, communicate on the phone, view computer screens, paperwork and filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open cabinets bending or standing, stoop, and pull, or kneel as necessary. The employee must occasionally pull, lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds.
