Dispatcher - Roll-Off Waste & Recycling
About the Opportunity
Our client, a rapidly growing waste and recycling company serving New York City, Westchester County, and Nassau County, is seeking an experienced Dispatcher to support and coordinate daily roll-off operations.
This is a critical hire for a business that plans to double its roll-off division within the next six months. The ideal candidate will have direct experience dispatching roll-off containers in the waste industry and possess a strong understanding of New York City waste operations, routing, permitting, and customer service.
The company is looking for a highly dependable, tech-savvy professional with a strong work ethic, a sense of urgency, and a "fire in the belly" mentality. This is a hands-on environment where leadership works alongside the team and values individuals who take ownership and drive results.
Schedule
  • Monday - Friday: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (flexibility for 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM schedule)
  • Alternate Saturdays: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Key Responsibilities
  • Dispatch and route a fleet of 9 roll-off waste and recycling trucks throughout New York City, Westchester County, and Nassau County.
  • Coordinate approximately 90 daily container moves, ensuring efficient routing and timely service.
  • Manage driver communication and provide real-time operational support throughout the day.
  • Enter, update, and maintain all customer orders, service requests, and dispatch information within the company's operating system.
  • Utilize TrashLab software and other technology platforms to schedule, monitor, and track daily operations.
  • Process and issue NYC DOT container permits accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Answer incoming customer calls professionally and courteously while providing exceptional customer service.
  • Resolve scheduling issues, service concerns, and route adjustments as needed.
  • Work closely with ownership and operations leadership to improve efficiency and support business growth.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and local regulations related to waste hauling and container placement.
Qualifications
Required
  • Minimum 5 years of dispatch experience, preferably within the waste management, recycling, hauling, or roll-off container industry.
  • Strong understanding of New York City roll-off operations, waste hauling regulations, and container permitting requirements.
  • Experience dispatching drivers and coordinating daily routes in a high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency with dispatching software, routing systems, and computer-based operations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform effectively under pressure.
  • Highly reliable, organized, and accountable.
Preferred
  • Direct experience dispatching roll-off trucks and containers.
