Job Title: EMS Dispatcher 2
Location: Mobile Health

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
A Typical Day
The Emergency Medical Technician/Dispatcher 2 is responsible for answering and processing emergency, non-emergency and administrative calls in a timely and professional manner. This position is primarily responsible for receiving requests for service, inputting the information into a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, proper classification of calls, deployment of resources utilizing principles of System Status Management and advanced knowledge of service area, selecting and dispatching the appropriate unit(s) to respond to calls and maintaining correct system status control by relocating units post assignments as designated by the System Status Plan.The Dispatcher 2 position is inclusive of the roles and responsibilities of Dispatcher 1 when performing radio duties. Standard of performance is limited to the use of the knowledge, skills and techniques within the NAED EMD Guidelines and in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and Mobile Health policies.
  • Conducts self and sets expectations for others to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with our Mission, Vision, Values, Characteristics, Credo and Mantra
  • Capable of communicating clearly, effectively, professionally and in English via written and verbal means
  • Responsible for answering 9-1-1 lines within 30-seconds and for answering non 9-1-1 emergency lines for ALS requests within 45 seconds of initial phone ring
  • Answers telephones and radios in a calm, efficient, prompt and professional manner
  • Assesses the nature and extent of injury or illness in accordance with the NAED MPDS to establish and prioritize appropriate resources and administer pre-arrival instructions to callers
  • Enters all required information into the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and assures completeness
  • Responsible for all administrative and operational policies and procedures for RWJBH EMS and Communications
  • Responsible for the responsibilities and essential functions of the Dispatcher 1 role when perforing those duties within the center
  • Performs other duties as required or requested by EMS management, necessary to the function of the organization

To Be Considered
Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Prefer one year experience with Mobile Health as an EMT or Paramedic or a minimum of one year dispatch experience with another public safety or EMS agency
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Drivers license record check and criminal background check
  • Applicants will be required to submit to a medical examination, drug testing, TB testing or Hepatitis vaccinations prior to and during employment at the expense of Employee Health Services

Certifications and Licenses Required:
  • American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider
  • PHTLS/ITLS preferred
  • APCO Basic Telecommunicator or State approved equivalent
  • IAED Emergency Medical Dispatcher
  • Must possess ICS 100, 200, and NIMS 700, 800
  • Must have completed Hazardous Materials Awareness training
  • Must have completed Weapons of Mass Destruction or CBRNE Awareness training

Preferred:
  • Associates Degree Preferred
