Job description

Be right in the middle of the excitement as an Attractions Lead while supporting the Supervisor and Manager of Attractions while helping guide ride operators, aviaries/animal feeds, and exhibit door attendants. You'll lead by example, jump in where needed, and help make sure every attraction operates safely, smoothly, and with a smile. From daily operations to special assignments, you're a go-to leader helping create unforgettable guest experiences every day!

What You'll Do

  • Provide friendly, professional service to Zoo guests and fellow staff members.
  • Assist with administrative procedures of the department including staff training, scheduling, record keeping, employee evaluations, and discipline.
  • Ensure that approved Indianapolis Zoo policies and procedures for all Guest Experience areas are being followed.
  • Provide and ensure all Attractions staff provide outstanding customer service. This includes daily transactions, services, comments, and ability to handle crowd size as it fluctuates while being aware of budgetary goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring all mechanical rides, audio equipment, and ticket booths are in good working order and are being operated according to the terms stated in the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Support Manager of Attractions in maintaining accurate record keeping practices. This includes daily checklists, inspections, mechanical concerns, and follow-up on repairs.
  • Give detailed instruction to any seasonals or volunteers working with the Attractions Staff.
  • Display a professional and positive attitude while interacting with staff, volunteers, and guests.
  • Recognize problems as they occur and contribute to their resolution. Make good decisions resulting from sound judgment as related to level of experience.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience with a minimum of one (1) year experience working in a zoo or amusement park setting with ride operations background is preferred.
  • Additional work experience of at least one (1) year in general retail, customer service and problem solving is strongly preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Additional Information

  • This is a part-time regular, 20-29 hours/ week position; may occasionally work more than 30 hours, if needed. Must have availability to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed. Different shift work will be required.
