Job description

Job Overview:

As part of the Disney Signature Experiences (DSE) Communications and Public Affairs team, the Specialist, Communications will contribute to integrated communication strategies for several Disney Signature Experiences businesses, including Disney Cruise Line; Disney Vacation Club; Storyliving by Disney; Adventures by Disney; National Geographic Expeditions; Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa; and Golden Oak.

The Specialist is responsible for creating compelling visual and written content and for supporting communication channels that shape the reputation of DSE businesses among internal and external audiences. The role also supports issues management and emergency communications initiatives. The Specialist will collaborate closely with DSE Public Affairs teams—including Executive Communications, External Affairs, and CSR—as well as Public Relations, Marketing, and segment-wide partners to ensure alignment and consistency across all initiatives.   

The Specialist’s skills should include creative writing, video production, graphic design, organization, and a critical eye for detail.  Recent work samples are required as part of this application process, which must be included as a URL link listed on your resume or uploaded as your portfolio.

The Specialist, Communications reports to the Manager, Communications.

What You Will Do:

  • Develop compelling visual and written content that enhances and protects the reputation of DSE businesses by informing, engaging, and empowering global audiences.
  • Craft written content for multiple communication vehicles including press releases, blog posts, social and web content.
  • Capture and edit videos for long- and short-form content in a variety of creative editing styles and video formats, including using a range of equipment and software which includes professional-grade cameras, Adobe Creative Suite and more.
  • Provide support for an onsite video and photography production studio, including space scheduling, equipment organization and procurement, and overall upkeep of the space.
  • Help create and maintain websites, digital signage, email templates, and other digital assets to support initiatives and business needs.
  • Support the management of communication calendars and project management systems. 
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and technical best practices to drive innovation while maintaining Company expectations and standards.
  • Support issues management and crisis communications initiatives, including conducting research, crafting messaging and supporting media relations efforts.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • 2+ years of proven experience in communications, marketing, public relations or video production.
  • Skilled at professional video production, including shooting and editing in a variety of creative styles and formats.
  • Knowledge of videography and photography principles.
  • Administrative, writing, research, and presentation skills, including excellent grammar and strong knowledge of Associated Press writing style.
  • Experience with the full Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) and other digital communications platforms (i.e. Keynote and/or PowerPoint, WordPress).
  • Self-starter that has demonstrated strong partnering and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects under deadline and adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends (travel is sometimes required).
  • Ability to carry at least 25 pounds of equipment to and from locations.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience developing communication strategies for internal and/or external audiences.
  • Understanding of social media and its role in shaping reputation and driving results.
  • Video production studio experience.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the cruise, travel and timeshare industries.
  • Basic knowledge of the Disney Experiences portfolio (Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Disney Signature Experiences, Disney Consumer Products, and more).
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Media, Video Production, Filmmaking, Marketing, Broadcast Journalism, Communications, or a related field.

Additional Information:

  • This is an onsite role based in Celebration, Florida.
  • Portfolio is required as part of the application process.

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $75,700.00 to $101,400.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
