Job Description:

The Controller opportunity with ILM is a senior finance and leadership role responsible for overseeing the ILM company's global financial operations across 5 studios / regions, including financial reporting, team management, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

This role is crucial in providing key financial information to enable decision-making, and acts as the primary liaison to Disney Studio Accounting.

This role is based in San Francisco and considered Hybrid, which means the employee will work onsite in our San Francisco office and occasionally from home.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all quarterly and adhoc financial reporting and submissions to Disney, ensuring compliance with GAAP and Disney corporate requirements.

  • Drive continuous improvement and automation across the function to maximize efficiency.

  • Lead the Global Accounting Team and provide strategic direction, guidance, and mentorship.

  • Analyze financial results in collaboration with the FP&A Team.

  • Oversee accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets and tax compliance.

  • Research technical accounting issues and work with Disney Accounting and internal teams as appropriate.

  • Manage revenue recognition process globally.

  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial integrity.

  • Plan and lead internal and external audits.

  • Communicate financial matters to the executive team.

  • Partner with the Production Accounting team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of project cost information.

  • Oversee complex transactions including consolidation accounting & intercompany eliminations and exchange rate impacts in a multi-currency environment.

  • Oversee regular analysis of Employee Benefit rates for each Studio and update as necessary.

  • Oversee data preparation for production and R&D tax incentives.

  • Maintain the chart of accounts and accounting records.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Controller with managerial experience for a multi-currency Global Company.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; MBA or technical certifications (e.g., Oracle Cloud certifications, PMP) a plus.

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant); Big 4 US GAAP audit experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience with ERP systems, preferably on Oracle Cloud Financials (SAP experience is a plus).

  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, balance operational support with long-term initiatives, manage international teams, and work across diverse stakeholders including IT, finance, production, and corporate teams (e.g., Disney).

  • Deep knowledge of international accounting and multi-entity consolidations.

  • Strong documentation and communication skills, especially in change management and user enablement.

The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $202,400-$247,200 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
