Job Summary(68 Week Contract):

We are seeking a Master Carpenter with extensive experience in exhibit fabrication and custom casework for an initial 6 to 8week contract. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail, a passion for craftsmanship, and the ability to bring complex designs to life. Exceptional performance during the contract may open the door to a fulltime role with our team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and execute detailed construction drawings and blueprints.
  • Fabricate and install custom exhibit components, display cases, and architectural millwork.
  • Collaborate with designers, project managers, and other craftsmen to ensure design intent and quality standards are met.
  • Select appropriate materials and methods for each project, considering durability and aesthetics.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workshop, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Mentor junior carpenters and/or helpers, fostering skill development and craftsmanship.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in exhibit fabrication or custom casework.
  • Proficiency with woodworking tools, machinery, and fabrication techniques.
  • Strong understanding of materials, including wood, laminates, acrylics, and metals.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with CNC machinery and digital fabrication tools.
  • Familiarity with museum-quality standards and conservation considerations.
  • Knowledge of finishing techniques, including staining, painting, and laminating.
