SUMMARY: Responsible for describing the rich history of Disney animation and vintage animation art under the Vice President of Animation Art. This position entails researching authenticity, telling the historical importance of pieces of animation art's individual history, carefully examining and communicating artwork conditions, and writing detailed narrative descriptions for lots of animation production cels, animation drawings, storyboards, layout drawings, production backgrounds, concept art, model sheets, historical animation and studio ephemera, and so much more.


This is NOT a graphic/illustration designer position.

LOCATION: South of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, NW corner of W. Airport Freeway (Hwy. 183) and Valley View Lane


COMPENSATION: Commensurate with experience.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Candidate should be well acquainted with animation art, including but not restricted to knowledge of specific animation films and TV specials and of the studios that produce them.
  • Evaluate animation/anime art, including production art, drawings, concept art, cels, and cel background art.
  • Knowledge of Disney Animation Art and Anime Animation art
  • Schedules animation/anime art consignments for auction.
  • Writes descriptions for online and catalog display based on notes from the consignor, the Director of Animation/Anime Art, and based on personal knowledge.
  • Answers inquiries.
  • Assists at previews and actively participates in auctions.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a high school degree or equivalent. 
  • Must have a minimum of two years of education and/or experience evaluating Disney animation art, or the ability to demonstrate comparable expertise. 
  • Extensive knowledge of hand-drawn animation art history and physical animation art is required. 
  • Knowledge of all major animation studios and their key properties is required. 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong multitasking ability with exceptional attention to detail. 
  • Positive attitude with outstanding customer service skills. 
  • Public speaking abilities are a plus.
