Lake Area Discovery Center (LADC) is hiring Infant & Toddler Assistant Teachers for full-time and part-time positions at multiple Discovery Center locations throughout the Twin Cities metro area.

Position Summary
Assistant Teachers partner with Lead Teachers to provide a safe, loving, and engaging environment for infants and toddlers, ages 6 weeks through 32 months. Through responsive caregiving, play-based learning, and consistent daily routines, Assistant Teachers help children build confidence, curiosity, language, and social-emotional skills during these important early years.
This position includes caring for children's daily needs while supporting developmental milestones through meaningful interactions, exploration, music, movement, sensory experiences, and outdoor play.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing responsive, nurturing care for infants and toddlers.
  • Support children's cognitive, language, physical, social, and emotional development through play and everyday interactions.
  • Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, handwashing, rest time, and daily routines.
  • Create warm, trusting relationships with children and their families.
  • Supervise children while maintaining a safe, healthy, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Prepare classroom materials and learning experiences.
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness and comply with Minnesota licensing standards.
  • Collaborate with Lead Teachers and other members of the teaching team.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have:
  • Experience caring for infants, toddlers, or young children in a childcare, preschool, nanny, family childcare, or similar setting.
  • Early Childhood Education coursework, CDA, or related education preferred.
  • Ability to meet Minnesota DHS Assistant Teacher qualifications (or willingness to obtain qualifications).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, dependable, and nurturing approach to caring for young children.
