Director of Student Discipleship: Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church

Job Description: POSITION

The Director of Student Ministry at Signal Pres participates on the Family Ministry Team, which is led by multiple staff members, includes over 100 volunteers, and engages more than 500 kids and students every week with the gospel. As part of this Family Ministry Team, the Student Ministry Director will provide leadership, management, and support to the people and discipleship efforts related to students in grades 6-12 in order to equip those students to live ordinary life as the faithful presence of Jesus' love.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Champion and implement the vision of SM2 and with the Family Pastor update it as needed
  • Ensure healthy and safe ministry environments for all involved

Management

  • Balance long-term vision and planning with routine week-to-week responsibilities
  • Proactively communicate delegated responsibilities and ensure proper accountability among staff team
  • Oversee the MS and HS Directors & the Ministry Coordinator for Family and Student Ministry
  • Oversee the Student Ministry budget in coordination with staff and youth committee

Adult Coordination

  • Maintain an active presence with D-Group Leaders as a guide and support in their ministry
  • Partner with MS Directors in leading the development and recruitment of D-Group Leaders
  • Pursue partnership with parents and other church members for the sake of ministry to students
  • Provide leadership for the Student Committee in collaboration with the committee chair

Overall Support & Participation

  • Actively participate in all Student Ministry events – weekly and annual – regularly teaching Scripture and engaging relationally with students
  • Develop and maintain any other relationship or initiative that could assist in the discipleship of students
ACCOUNTABILITY

The Director of Student Ministry will report to the Associate Pastor of Family Ministry.

EVALUATION

The Director of Student Ministry will be reviewed annually by the Associate Pastor of Family Ministry. He, along with the Personnel Committee, will annually review the adequacy of compensation.

  • A team player with experience leading, managing, and co-laboring with other adults
  • A committed disciple maker who leads other disciple makers by example
  • A proven commitment to students and their families in the context of the local church
REQUIREMENTS
  • A track record of discipling and ministering to students in the local church
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Satisfactory background check
  • Bachelor’s Degree
