Job description

Job Title: Distribution Designer I - Senior Lead
Work Place Flexibility: Onsite
Legal Entity: Entergy Louisiana, LLC
**This requisition may be filled as a Distribution Designer I, II, III, Senior, or Sr. Lead depending on the candidate's qualifications and experience.**
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Responsible for meeting with customers to determine electric needs and requirements. Design jobs to install, replace, or remove distribution facilities to support customer requests, reliability projects, or infrastructure improvement.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Primary responsibility will be to manage multiple distribution projects for new residential and commercial businesses. Includes meeting with customers to determine their service needs, design of overhead and underground line extensions, estimating costs, preparing construction drawings and coordinate construction commits.
  • Coordinate and lead pre-design and pre-construction meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform engineering calculations to aid in planning and corrective measure projects (i.e., load studies, revenue justification, fault current, voltage drop, etc.).
  • Provide leadership and technical support to local operations and contract compliance with regards to distribution design standards and practices to provide seamless service to customers and external constituents.
  • Aid local Right of Way agent with acquiring permits and ROW documents.
  • Assist with storm restoration efforts as needed both local and out of town leading and/or participating in damage assessment activities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Designer I
Requires one of the following -
a. Bachelor's degree (any disciple) OR
b.2-year Technical Associates degree OR
c.1-year Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience OR
d.> 2 years of Electric Utility field operational experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering) OR
Department Sr. Manager's (or above) approval in lieu of all requirements
Designer II
Requires 2 years Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience AND
one of the following -
a. Bachelor's degree (any disciple) OR
b.2-year Technical Associates degree OR
c.2 additional years Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience OR
d.> 2 years of Electric Utility field operational experience (Transmission Line or Substation, Distribution Line or Service, Field Metering) OR
Department Sr. Manager's (or above) approval in lieu of all requirements
Designer III
Requires 4 years Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience AND
One of the following -
a. Bachelor's degree (any disciple) OR
b. 2-year Technical Associates degree OR

Designer Sr. Lead
1. Requires 8 years Electric Utility Distribution (or Transmission) Design experience AND
2. One of the following -
a. Bachelor's degree (any disciple) OR 3. Department Sr. Manager's (or above) approval in lieu of all requirements
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
  • Good interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of personal computer operations and related software.
  • Basic theory of electricity. Ability to interpret construction drawings.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and dependable team player.
  • Good math skills.
  • Familiar with National Electrical Safety Code and National Electrical Code.
  • Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and mitigate the hazards.
  • Ability to maintain and care for Company equipment properly and safeguard assets.
  • Ability to meet the public in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement.
