System Administrator

KDInfotech

Portland, OR • On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 28 days ago

Job description

Job Summary:
KDInfotech is a leading IT services company for small and medium-size businesses, seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to manage hybrid infrastructures across diverse client portfolios. The role involves technical leadership in storage, virtualization, and AWS deployments, along with developing IT policies for data security and disaster recovery.
Responsibilities:
• Architect, manage, and optimize virtualization environments across various client sites, with a heavy focus on VMware and Proxmox clusters.
• Manage and maintain high-availability storage systems across different hardware generations and vendors, specifically utilizing Synology, TrueNAS, and Dell Unisphere environments.
• Deploy and scale AWS resources for multiple tenants, ensuring cost-efficiency, proper segmentation, and security best practices.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Intermediate-level networking across a multi-vendor stack. You must be comfortable navigating complex topologies involving Juniper switches, Meraki cloud-managed infrastructure, and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Serve as the primary administrator for Identity Providers, specifically Okta and Active Directory, managing SSO, MFA, and complex lifecycle management workflows.
• Audit client environments to enforce a Least Privileged Access model across all systems.
• Automate wherever possible. Utilize scripting and orchestration to standardize deployments and eliminate repetitive manual tasks across the client base.
• Own the central monitoring ecosystem, utilizing Zabbix to configure custom triggers, templates, and alerts that cater to specific client SLAs.
• Adopt a proactive stance on system health—identifying and resolving latency or capacity trends before they impact client operations.
• Collaborate directly with clients to write, develop, and maintain IT policies tailored to their specific business requirements.
• Focus on defining and testing Backup & Retention policies, Disaster Recovery (DR) planning, and Data Security standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 5+ years of experience in Systems Administration
• Expertise managing VMware (vSphere/ESXi) and Proxmox VE, with the ability to adapt to other hypervisors as needed.
• Strong hands-on experience configuring and maintaining Synology NAS, TrueNAS Scale, and Dell Unisphere/Unity arrays.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and manage Juniper routing/switching, Meraki wireless/security, and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Experience managing AWS infrastructure and Identity Providers (Okta/Active Directory) in a multi-tenant context.
• Advanced configuration skills in Zabbix (creating templates, custom parameters).
• Ability to translate technical risks into business policies (DR, Backups, Security) for non-technical client stakeholders.
Preferred:
• Experience migrating workloads between virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware to Proxmox).
• Scripting proficiency in Python or Bash for automation and Zabbix custom parameters.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible) for standardizing client deployments
Company:
KDInfoTech provides IT infrastructure, project management and technical services. Founded in 2009, the company is headquartered in Santa Clara, USA, with a team of 51-200 employees. The company is currently Growth Stage.
