Director of Plant Operations
Pay: $60K-$65K/year | Location: 10270 Blacklick-Eastern Road NW, Pickerington, OH 43147 |Schedule: Day Shift | On-Call / Emergency Response as Needed
Lead the Physical Environment That Supports Recovery
The Director of Plant Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and recovery-focused residential environment for patients, staff, and visitors. In a detox and SUD treatment setting, the physical plant plays a direct role in patient safety, dignity, and healing. This leader ensures all facility systems, safety programs, and environment of care standards align with behavioral health, residential detox, and regulatory requirements, with special attention to ligature risk mitigation, life safety, and emergency preparedness.
This role partners closely with Clinical, Nursing, Quality, and Compliance leadership to balance regulatory excellence with a therapeutic, patient-centered environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct all plant and facility operations, including maintenance, utilities, grounds, and life safety systems
  • Supervision of Environmental Services Department
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, OSHA, NFPA, and state regulatory requirements applicable to residential detox and SUD treatment facilities
  • Lead and oversee Environment of Care (EOC) and Life Safety (LS) programs
  • Manage emergency preparedness, disaster planning, drills, and real-time response
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, security, and surveillance systems
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate ligature risks and environmental safety hazards specific to detox and behavioral health populations
  • Collaborate with Nursing, Medical, Clinical, and Quality teams to support patient safety and regulatory initiatives
  • Supervise facilities staff and external vendors; oversee contracts and departmental budgets
  • Support construction, renovation, and equipment installation projects in active residential and clinical environments
  • Ensure accurate documentation and operational readiness for surveys, audits, and accreditation reviews
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of facilities or plant operations leadership experience, preferably in:
    • Residential detox or SUD treatment
    • Behavioral health
    • Psychiatric or acute healthcare environments
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • Joint Commission standards
    • Environment of Care amp; Life Safety requirements
    • CMS Conditions of Participation
    • Behavioral health and residential safety standards
    • HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical Experience
  • Proven experience leading teams, managing vendors, and responding to emergencies
  • Demonstrated ability to balance regulatory compliance with a therapeutic, recovery-focused environment
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM) or equivalent certification
  • Experience with ligature-resistant design, behavioral health construction, and safety retrofits
  • Prior leadership experience in residential treatment or detox settings
