Job description

Position Overview

Client is seeking a Senior Hybrid Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, operate, and modernize enterprise infrastructure across on-premises and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments. This role combines infrastructure engineering, cloud architecture, automation, cybersecurity, and operational excellence to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient technology platforms supporting critical business operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the engineering and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure while helping lead Client's cloud transformation initiatives. This includes migrating workloads from on-premises infrastructure to GCP using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Terraform, GitHub, and CI/CD automation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who thrives in both operational support and strategic modernization efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Hybrid Infrastructure Engineering

  • Design, implement, administer, and support highly available hybrid infrastructure across on-premises and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Engineer secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure supporting enterprise business applications.
  • Administer Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, networking, and enterprise storage.
  • Manage enterprise storage platforms including VxRail, Vblock, Isilon/PowerScale, Data Domain, and Avamar.
  • Support Palo Alto and SonicWall firewalls and enterprise network infrastructure.

Cloud Engineering & Migration

  • Lead the migration of enterprise workloads from on-premises infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform.
  • Design cloud architectures supporting hybrid connectivity, security, resiliency, and operational support.
  • Develop migration strategies, dependency mapping, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and post-migration validation.
  • Optimize cloud infrastructure for availability, security, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with application, database, networking, and cybersecurity teams during migration initiatives.

Infrastructure as Code & Automation

  • Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules and standardized deployment templates.
  • Manage infrastructure source code using GitHub.
  • Build and maintain GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for automated infrastructure deployments.
  • Implement GitOps practices and automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, patching, and operational tasks using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.

Architecture, Security & Operations

  • Participate in enterprise infrastructure architecture, modernization, and technology roadmap planning.
  • Design and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity solutions meeting established business recovery objectives.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity teams to improve infrastructure security posture, vulnerability remediation, and compliance.
  • Perform infrastructure lifecycle management including upgrades, hardware refreshes, firmware updates, and platform migrations.
  • Monitor infrastructure health, availability, capacity, and performance while implementing proactive improvements.
  • Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, operational documentation, standards, and technical procedures.
  • Lead infrastructure implementation projects while coordinating with vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Participate in on-call support and major incident response.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of enterprise infrastructure engineering or senior systems administration experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, enterprise networking, storage, and virtualization.
  • Experience designing and supporting hybrid infrastructure integrating on-premises environments with Google Cloud Platform.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP services including Compute Engine, VPC, IAM, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Load Balancing.
  • Strong experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
  • Experience with GitHub source control and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience automating infrastructure using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and firewall administration.
  • Experience with Palo Alto and SonicWall firewalls.
  • Experience supporting enterprise storage technologies including VxRail, Vblock, Isilon/PowerScale, Data Domain, Avamar and Rubrik.
  • Experience designing and supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Experience with infrastructure lifecycle management, cloud migrations, cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability remediation, and operational monitoring.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and project leadership skills.
