Essential Job Functions
Description of Job Function
1. Reviews disability documentation and determines reasonable and appropriate access accommodations while maintaining accuracy of student files and provides reports as necessary.
2. Negotiates and arranges with all necessary parties to engage in the interactive process regarding uncommon academic accommodations.
3. Manages all area personnel, both full and part-time staff, including student employees, through supervision, training, and evaluation of performance.
4. Manages all area campus office coverage and assists to provide coverage to the regional campus locations.
5. Collaborates effectively with faculty, staff, and administration to provide services for students with disabilities, including their necessary accommodations.
6. Creates and assists students through the course substitution process for those qualified students.
7. Serves on college committees at the request of the OSD Director.
8. Actively participates in professional development activities as related to the position.
9. Manages all aspects of campus orientation for students with disabilities and their parents.
10. Provides support for students with disabilities who are on academic probation by: helping students set realistic goals for improvement, and tracking student progress throughout the semester.
11. Facilitates OSD outreach presentations for Valencia students, faculty, and staff; local service agencies; local middle and high schools; and other community groups.
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
