Job description

Stoel Rives LLP has an immediate opening for a Conflicts Attorney. This position is part of a team that provides conflict of interest analysis and guidance in support the firm's centralized conflict clearing process. Although principally responsible for new business and new talent conflicts clearance, Conflicts Attorneys may also be involved in conflicts clearance relating to responses to RFPs and external publications. The position requires solid analytical skills, sound judgment, a thorough understanding of the conflict of interest rules, clear written and oral communications, and the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. In addition to a solid understanding of the rules relating to conflicts of interest, the Conflicts Attorney role requires familiarity with standard conflicts search strategy and corresponding software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Conflicts Analysis. Analyze conflict reports for new business and potential new hires and communicate results to effectively reach resolution on conflict requests and document all outcomes. Exercise judgment to escalate to Firm Counsel and the Director of Business Intake and Conflicts any uncertain or unusual conflict situations, as appropriate.
Consent letters: As requested by firm attorneys, draft consent letters.
Ethical Walls: Work with the Business Intake Department as needed to construct, monitor, and disable ethical walls.
Miscellaneous: Recommend process/service improvements, solutions, policy changes and/or major variations from established policy to better meet the needs of both internal and external clients. Ensure that services are delivered effectively and efficiently by working collaboratively with firm leadership, practice groups, and other departments; ensure compliance with conflicts related Firm policies and procedures; assist in the development of department procedures and processes; and attend regular staff meetings and training.

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES
Must be able to utilize Firm resources to provide timely and thorough responses to all incoming conflict inquiries; produce high quality work consistent with conflict clearance goals; work independently and efficiently. Must be able to listen and respond to all inquiries in a professional and sensitive manner and navigate various communication styles to effectively deliver analysis and give advice that is informed, objective, and succinct. Must be able to handle sensitive or difficult issues with confidence and professionalism.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Juris Doctor degree and bar membership in the jurisdiction of at least one Firm office location required. Experience with conflicts of interest analysis or related risk management initiatives and familiarity with Intapp Open, preferred.
NORMAL HOURS
This position is exempt. Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with an expectation to work whatever hours are necessary to accomplish the assigned responsibilities. This position is fully remote.

The pay range for this position is $94,000 - $208,000; however, the base compensation presented to a candidate may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location.
