Purpose of the Role:

You will be a key member of a dynamic and innovative group of lawyers, paraprofessionals, and legal support staff, providing the highest level of service to our clients. You will have the opportunity to cultivate your skills as part of our successful national Disputes Commercial & Construction (DCC) Law team within Canada's premier full-service law firm.

Right from the start you will:
  • Be the principal point of contact for assigned lawyers, assuming overall accountability for work requested by the lawyer involving key members of the legal support team, such as Law Clerks, Document Specialists, Administrative Assistants and members of the Business Services team
  • Actively participate as a contributing member of the legal team to manage legal matters and provide excellent client service
  • Provide dedicated support and proactively and efficiently organize the flow of work for specific lawyers in the DCC Law practice
  • Coordinate the scheduling of important dates including client meetings, court deadlines, conferences, and lawyer and legal team meetings
  • Manage communications, prepare correspondence, and liaise with multiple key stakeholders related to ongoing matters
  • Support and coordinate commercial management activities such as matter intake, billing and collections
  • Provide day to day support as required to meet the needs of our lawyers and clients
What you will bring to this role:
  • A College Legal Assistant or Law Clerk Diploma
  • Minimum of three years experience as a legal assistant supporting multiple lawyers in a diverse area of litigation law
  • High proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook and document management systems
  • Sound knowledge of matter management, including intake and complex client billing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professionalism and initiative
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Collaboration, teamwork, and commitment to excellence are paramount.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire for continuous improvement

The expected salary range for this position is $55,000 - $75,000, depending on level of experience, region/location, and other factors.
