About Federal Guardian
Federal Guardian is committed to supporting mission-critical federal healthcare programs through dependable medical evaluation services. Our role is to help ensure Veteran disability determination processes are supported by accurate, timely, and objective clinical assessments. We are expanding our national provider network and are seeking experienced Physicians (M.D. or D.O.) in the Springfield, MO area to conduct structured medical disability examinations in support of Veterans. This is a flexible 1099 independent contractor opportunity offering per-exam compensation, with the ability to work in person and, where applicable, remotely, without ongoing treatment or patient panel obligations.
Position Overview
As a Physician Medical Disability Examiner with Federal Guardian, you will:
  • Conduct medical disability examinations in accordance with established protocols and standardized evaluation forms.
  • Review claimant medical records and collect relevant medical history.
  • Perform focused physical and/or mental status examinations as appropriate based on assignment.
  • Objectively document findings and complete required reporting templates accurately and on time.
  • Provide medical opinions that support disability claim determinations, ensuring clear and thorough documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with clinic sites, administrative staff, and claim representatives as needed.
Note: These evaluations are not treatment encounters. You are assessing functional limitations and medical evidence related to disability claims.
Contractor Requirements
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current, active, and unrestricted medical license in the state of Missouri.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience; prior disability exam experience is advantageous but not required.
  • Must have existing private office space for conducting evaluations.
  • Proficiency in documentation and objective medical reporting.
  • Ability to work independently, manage your own schedule, and meet reporting timelines.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
