Job description

Funeral Associate – Full-Time

Family-Owned Funeral Firm | Metro Detroit | Troy & Royal Oak

A family-owned leader in funeral service, serving Metro Detroit through three locations in Troy and Royal Oak, is seeking a reliable, hardworking Funeral Associate to join our team.

This is a hands-on, physically active position for someone who is dependable, professional and comfortable getting the job done. You’ll work alongside funeral directors and assist with transportation, facility setup, service logistics and the many details that keep a funeral service running smoothly.

This is not a desk job. You’ll be on your feet, behind the wheel, moving, preparing facilities and working as part of a team.

Salary commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits available, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid time off and more.

Responsibilities

  • Assist funeral directors with funeral services and visitations
  • Safely and respectfully transport deceased individuals to and from funeral homes and other locations
  • Move caskets, furniture, equipment and other funeral service items
  • Set up and break down chapels, visitation rooms and service areas
  • Receive and move floral arrangements
  • Monitor parking areas and direct traffic during services
  • Plan efficient driving routes and arrive at destinations on time
  • Keep facilities and service areas organized and prepared
  • Greet and assist families and guests
  • Answer phones and direct calls
  • Step in wherever needed to support funeral directors and the team

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who shows up, works hard and takes responsibility for the job.

  • Dependable, punctual and willing to take initiative
  • Comfortable with physical, hands-on work and standing for extended periods
  • Able to routinely lift and move 60 pounds or more
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Safe, confident and competent driver comfortable throughout Metro Detroit
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
  • Team-oriented with good judgment and a willingness to help
  • Comfortable working around deceased individuals
  • Professional appearance and communication skills
  • Respectful of confidentiality and the families we serve
  • Able to work a schedule that includes days, evenings and weekends

Join Our Team

Funeral service requires reliability, composure, physical ability, attention to detail and respect for the families we serve.

If you’re someone who shows up, works hard, takes pride in your work and can be counted on when it matters, we’d like to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunity employer that does not tolerate discrimination in the workplace. We see diversity and inclusion as central to our organization. We endorse the “open door principle,” which gives every employee the right to discuss issues that matter to them directly with their leaders.
