Job description

PacifiCorp is seeking customer-centric candidates to grow and sustain our commitment to a culture of customer service excellence, environmental sustainability and diversity, equity and inclusion.

General Purpose

Directs the activities of wind generation technicians, wind generation contractors and wind generation technician crew leaders to achieve safe, efficient, environmentally compliant and cost-effective wind powered electrical generation. Ensures work is planned, prioritized, scheduled and performed in a cost-effective manner. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees, implements and supports Company programs and policies.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with company environmental and wildlife avian policies, procedures, permits, and associated regulations.
  • Oversee day-to-day work of wind environmental/wildlife internal and contract technicians. Ensure work is conducted accurately, safely, and on budget.
  • Coordinate with wind environmental leadership team on implementation, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Hold supervised employees and contractors accountable to work safely, productively, and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee avian and other wildlife surveys, environmental monitoring, and avian curtailment activities at wind plant facilities.
  • Supervise internal and/or contract employees within the guidelines of the applicable working agreements and enforce.
  • As assigned by a wind environmental manager and/or director, responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, coaching, and development of employees.
  • Assist with preparation of Scope of Work documents necessary to obtain contractor work. Assist with invoicing, budget forecasting, and budget reporting.
  • Deliver training and provide guidance to operations staff, environmental technicians and contractors.
  • Build and maintain cooperative working relationships with other departments, including Operations, and regulatory agencies.
  • Implement business objectives, strategies and plans.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal guidelines, permits, and regulations.
  • Review environmental/wildlife data collection. Assist with preparation and submittal of agency wildlife or other reports.
  • Review, understand, and implement wildlife/avian permit conditions, and associated company procedures.
  • Develop or update policy and processes to ensure environmental compliance, as needed and under direction of wind environmental leadership.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Wildlife Biology or Environmental Sciences; or equivalent degree.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the wildlife field, preferably related to energy generation.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a supervisory role overseeing employees.
  • Knowledge and understanding of environmental aspects related to wind energy generation, particularly eagles and other wildlife.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local governmental environmental laws and regulations, including BGEPA, MBTA, and ESA.
  • Data gathering, analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, and presentation applications to gather, analyze, and present information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to communicate expectations, provide feedback, work collaboratively with other departments, and consult with internal and external customers regarding matters which may be sensitive in nature.
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization including people with different styles and backgrounds and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize workload under pressure.
  • Ability to travel as needed for project site visits, internal trainings, audits, and meetings.
  • Ability to work safely in remote conditions.
  • Must be flexible and available in responding to after-hour emergencies.
  • Commitment and dedication to manage projects or assignments through completion.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills to develop and promote cooperative working relationships within their crew, contractors and among departments.
  • Ability to make timely decisions.
Preferences
  • Masters degree in related field.
  • Knowledge of wind plant operations and wind plant systems.
  • Familiarity with Eagle Incidental Take Permit requirements.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory at an electric utility or wind generation company.
  • Experience leading complex projects.

Hiring Range: $102,000-$140,250
