The (USA) Director, Technology Operations leads strategic Search, Personalization and Walmart Connect initiatives, driving commercial strategy to maximize customer satisfaction and ad revenue. Sitting within the eCommerce business organization, this role partners with Product, Engineering, and Data Science to advance content retrieval and algorithmic ranking. Combining cross-functional leadership with a hands-on approach to data analysis, the Director will establish dynamic business dials that balance competing levers in real time. Grounded in data, the Director drives cross-functional discussions and strategic initiatives that align technical execution with commercial impact
About the team:
Our team integrates commercial strategy with advanced technology to enhance customer satisfaction and advertising revenue across Walmart Search, P13N and Walmart Connect. Collaborating closely with product, engineering, and data science teams, we lead cross-functional initiatives to improve personalized content retrieval and algorithmic ranking. We develop dynamic business controls that balance customer intent, organic relevance, and monetization in real time. This data-driven approach delivers an intuitive discovery experience for millions of shoppers while optimizing multiple business levers. Ultimately, we transform complex search and advertising capabilities into scalable strategic impact across Walmart’s digital platforms.
What you'll do:
Lead and partner with planning and execution of Search, Personalization and Walmart Connect programs, aligning technology capabilities directly with ad revenue and search relevance/monetization goals. Define program charters and baselines across content retrieval and algorithmic ranking, coordinating Product, Engineering, and Data Science to deliver integrated solutions. Establish dynamic business dials to arbitrate search experiences, balancing customer intent, relevance, and monetization targets in real time. Build cross-functional alignment, driving strategic discussions and influencing decision-makers through hands-on data analysis. Investigate data to monitor program health, evaluate trade-offs, and optimize execution. Translate commercial requirements into actionable search and ad-tech strategies that drive sustainable growth across Walmart.
What you'll bring:
Proven leadership of technology programs in search, e-commerce, or retail media, focusing on operational ROI. Hands-on data proficiency, analyzing datasets to evaluate trade-offs and ground decisions in evidence. Cross-functional influence to align priorities across Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams. Familiarity with search retrieval and ranking, helping establish business dials that balance experience and revenue. Expertise in program health, risk mitigation, and performance tracking to ensure reliable delivery. Ability to translate commercial needs into actionable technology initiatives. Strong communication skills, clearly presenting data insights to both technical and business stakeholders.
