The Role

We are seeking a Director, within the Global Technical Controllership in McKesson's Corporate segment. This leadership position oversees statutory financial reporting, legal entity accounting including complex intercompany transactions and cross-border legal entity activity, and governance activities for McKesson's international legal entities. The Director will lead a team responsible for ensuring timely and accurate statutory financial statements while maintaining compliance with local accounting and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.

The role serves as the primary finance leader supporting Boards of Directors and legal entity governance processes through review of board materials, presentation of financial results, and communication of key business developments and risks.

The successful candidate will partner closely with Tax, Treasury, Legal, Business Units, Corporate Accounting, External Auditors, and senior business leaders to support financial reporting, statutory compliance and strategic business initiatives.

In addition to strong technical accounting capabilities, this role requires a leader who demonstrates initiative, drives accountability, develops talent, embraces change and consistently delivers results while fostering a positive and collaborative culture.

What You'll Do

  • Statutory Financial Reporting & Audits
    • Lead preparation and approval of statutory financial statements for McKesson's international legal entities.
    • Ensure compliance with local accounting, statutory reporting, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
    • Oversee audit execution, serving as the primary liaison with external auditors in local jurisdictions and key stakeholders.
    • Monitor regulatory developments and drive continuous improvement of reporting and audit processes.
  • Legal Entity Accounting
    • Provide leadership and oversight of legal entity accounting activities, including balance sheet reviews, intercompany transactions, dividends, capital contributions, investments, debt structures, and restructuring transactions (step plans).
    • Ensure legal entity financial information accurately reflects business activity and complies with applicable accounting standards.
    • Support legal entity governance and capital structure initiatives.
  • Board Reporting & Governance
    • Lead the preparation of Board materials, financial updates, solvency assessments, and supporting analyses.
    • Present financial results, significant transactions, audit outcomes, solvency assessments, and emerging risks to Boards of Directors and legal entity governance committees.
    • Serve as the primary finance liaison for Board-related financial reporting and governance matters.
    • Coordinate Board and key stakeholder approvals of statutory financial statements and governance activities.
  • Leadership and Transformation
    • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of accounting professionals
    • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and standardization of statutory reporting processes
    • Support implementation of scalable global reporting and governance processes
    • Build organizational capability through succession planning and leadership development

Minimum Requirements

  • 12 years of progressive accounting, finance or audit experience
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing teams and developing talent
  • CPA required
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related discipline
  • Experience in working in a complex, matrixed organization

Critical Skills

  • Strong technical accounting expertise with deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of intercompany accounting, transfer pricing related activities, legal entity transaction flows, and the impact of cross-border activity on statutory reporting, audits, and governance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and process transformation initiatives.
  • Ability to identify and implement AI-enabled process improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, documentation quality, and control effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive leaders and drive alignment across a matrix organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparation of executive-level presentations and technical accounting documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Big Four public accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with international statutory reporting (FRS102, IFRS), statutory audits and legal entity governance.
  • Experience with SOX compliance and internal controls frameworks.
  • Experience with SAP, Oracle FCCS, BlackLine, and financial reporting systems.
  • MBA or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
