Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the day-to-day operations of the Biomedical/Technical Services department, ensuring productivity, quality, turnaround times, and customer expectations are met.
  • Directly supervise, coach, train, and develop a team of approximately 15 BMETs/medical device technicians.
  • Oversee the repair, preventive maintenance, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and upgrades of medical devices and biomedical equipment.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues and support technicians with advanced troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Manage workflow, staffing, workload prioritization, and resource allocation to maximize technician productivity and service quality.
  • Ensure all technical work is completed according to established procedures, manufacturer specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable FDA, ISO, and medical device quality requirements.
  • Oversee technician training, competency programs, certifications, and technical development.
  • Develop and coordinate technical training programs for biomedical engineers, BMETs, and medical device customers.
  • Partner with Service Administration to ensure device history records, calibration records, repair documentation, and service records are complete and audit-ready.
  • Analyze service metrics, equipment performance, customer feedback, and operational trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency, service quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with the Director of Technical Services and cross-functional teams on technical issues, new product introductions, and departmental initiatives.
  • Maintain hands-on technical proficiency by performing advanced medical device repairs, testing, calibration, hardware upgrades, and software updates when needed.
  • Support the Director with departmental planning, reporting, quality investigations, corrective actions, and strategic initiatives.

Ideal Background

  • 7+ years of progressive technical experience in the medical device, biomedical, clinical engineering, or healthcare technology industry.
  • Current or recent experience as a BMET, Biomedical Engineer, Clinical Engineer, Medical Device Technician, or Field Service Technician.
  • Several years of supervisory/management experience is required, specifically leading technical service or biomedical personnel.
  • Experience supervising field service technicians is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in a hospital biomedical engineering/clinical engineering department is highly relevant.
  • Strong electrical/electronics background with the ability to troubleshoot complex medical equipment.
  • Electrosurgical equipment experience is highly relevant.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical field is preferred; equivalent hands-on technical experience may be considered.
  • Strong understanding of medical device repair, preventive maintenance, calibration, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with FDA/ISO quality systems, technical documentation, and service records.
  • Strong Microsoft Office and technical/service software skills.
  • Leadership Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who can manage a large team while still understanding the technical work being performed. They should be comfortable mentoring BMETs, solving complex equipment issues, communicating with customers and internal teams, and making decisions in a fast-paced medical device environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone currently leading BMETs, biomedical engineers, clinical engineering teams, or medical device field service technicians who wants to step into a larger leadership role with significant team ownership and long-term growth potential.
