Job description

The School of Computing and Information builds on a legacy of teaching and research excellence that started over a century ago. Today, our students, faculty, staff, alumni and partners enable us to impact the University, Pittsburgh and beyond.
The Director of Strategic Communications & Media reports directly to the Senior Director of Business Administration in the School of Computing and Information (SCI), works closely with the Dean and serves as a member of the Dean's Leadership Team. This leadership position provides strategic direction for all marketing, communications, branding, media relations, public affairs, and visibility initiatives that advance SCI's mission, enrollment growth, partnerships, reputation, and impact.
The Director leads the communications and marketing team, providing strategic direction, talent development, operational oversight, and accountability for results. The position serves as the school's communications and marketing strategist, leading integrated initiatives that elevate SCI's visibility, strengthen its market position, and establish the school as a leader in interdisciplinary, workforce-focused, and future-oriented education.
The Director collaborates extensively with SCI leadership, academic and administrative units, Office of University Communication and Marketing, industry and community partners, media organizations, and external stakeholders to advance university and SCI priorities, and ensure consistent, high-impact messaging. Through visionary leadership, organizational development, and strategic execution, the position drives SCI's long-term growth, enrollment objectives, impact and success.
