Job description

Job Title: Certified Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Renton, WA
Position Type: Contract-to-Hire (1040 Hours to Conversion)
Schedule: Monday - Friday | 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (with a "finish the job" flexibility based on case volume)
Compensation: $22.19 - $35.72 / hour (Depending on Experience)
Position Overview
We are seeking a high-energy, certified Sterile Processing Technician to join one of the largest and most prestigious Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) in the Pacific Northwest. Ranked among the Top 100 facilities in the nation, this physician-led organization offers a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your expertise directly impacts patient outcomes.
Unlike traditional, isolated hospital departments, our Sterile Processing Department (SPD) team works on the same floor as the Operating Room. You will serve as a vital "bridge" to the OR staff, ensuring the seamless flow of 30+ daily cases across 5 ORs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Decontamination: Perform manual scrubbing and operate mechanical washers/disinfectors while strictly adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols.
  • Assembly & Wrapping: Inspect surgical instruments for proper functionality, assemble trays based on specific surgeon preference cards, and professionally wrap instruments for sterilization.
  • Sterilization Management: Safely operate autoclaves and meticulously document physical, chemical, and biological indicators.
  • OR Collaboration: Troubleshoot immediate instrument needs and respond proactively to urgent requests from surgeons and OR staff to maintain efficient surgical flow.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Certification: Active CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) is strictly mandatory.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of professional sterile processing experience. Please note: We are currently unable to accept new graduates due to limited preceptor bandwidth.
  • Specialty Knowledge: High level of familiarity and experience handling Orthopedic and Spine instrumentation.
  • Preferred Skills (Pluses): * Prior background in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) due to high-volume turnover.
    • Experience utilizing electronic instrument tracking systems (specifically Sonar).
    • Ability to thrive in a high-volume atmosphere managing approximately 30 cases per day.
