Quality Engineer duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

The Quality Engineer position is an entry level role working directly with the Quality and Operations leaders in meeting the goals of evaluating existing processes systems to reduce rejects and costs, and to develop best practices for improved performance as well as implementing and supporting all quality initiatives including meeting all quality objectives.


Essential Job Functions of the Quality Engineer:

Support Maintenance of Quality System Certification requirementso Lead and support all activities as necessary to ensure compliance of internal processes with established internal requirements and external commitments.o Support the maintenance of the integrity of the quality systems by ensuring adherence to the ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 Quality System requirements. o Assist with ISO certification and customer audits. Support New Product Introductiono Assist in product stewardship documentation collection, preparation, organization, and deployment with internal systems.o Support development of process routing, control plans, inspection methods and reporting/certification requirements for product Lead and support Corrective and Preventive Actions for Process Improvements, Internal Rejects as well as Customer Complaints.o Assist in the analysis, development, and implementation of preventive actions, which proactively resolve product process and systems issues. o Participate in continuous improvement activities which result in sustained performance improvements. o Troubleshoot existing and new products and processes working closely with production, quality, and process development.  Lead and Support Testing and Analysiso Gather product, process data, and perform analysis to help support corrective actions, qualifications, and continuous improvement. o Lead and assist with test sample preparation, testing, analysis, and certification as required.o Support Inspection activities as necessary. New Resource Acquisition and Commissioningo Order, install and qualify new equipment when deemed necessary.o Create documentation to support manufacturing processes. o Write and perform process validations (IQ, OQ, PQ).o Demonstrate good working knowledge and application of validation and statistical techniques. Interface with External Parties as needed, such as Customers, Suppliers and Vendors Support Cross-Functional Activityo Actively promote and participate in cross-functional teamwork environment.o Interface directly with production supervisors, operators, and engineers in resolving production problems.o Actively promote a safe working environment. Support all safety initiatives.o Other tasks as directed by the Quality Manager and Director of Quality. 

Requirements

Required Skills and Education:


Understanding of material science with polymer preferred, including the various testing techniques.

Understanding of the use of statistics for understanding processes and trends, and proficiency with statistical analysis packages such as Minitab or R. 

Ability to learn, organize, and conduct assigned projects independently.

Familiarity with scientific methods, strong laboratory practices, and understanding of safe work practices.

Exceptional PC skills, specifically using MS Word, Excel, and Power Point; plotting capabilities, and spreadsheet calculations.

Flexible and adaptable to change. Ability to manage multiple short- and long-term projects simultaneously.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Impeccable attention to detail.

Bachelor of Science in applicable major such as material science with a minimum of 1-year relevant industrial experience. 

ASQ Certification such as CQE (certified Quality Engineer) is a plus
