You are accountable for the health of the systems your domain owns, the quality and durability of the team's technical decisions, and the growth and effectiveness of the engineers you lead. You will set direction for your domain, create clarity for engineers and partners, and ensure the team is focused on the problems that matter most.We are hiring three Directors of Software Engineering to lead distinct product and platform domains: Consumer Experience, B2B Products & Portals, and Backend Platforms & Services. Each role shares the same leadership expectations, but the technical emphasis will vary by domain. We are looking for leaders with deep experience in at least one of these areas, not all three.You will work directly with engineering leadership, product leaders, technical product managers, and other domain leads to connect technical strategy to business outcomes. The role requires someone who can bring structure to ambiguity, make pragmatic technical decisions, and lead people through complex work with clarity, judgment, and ownership.**The domains we are hiring for**Consumer Experience* Lead the engineering team responsible for consumer-facing digital experiences, with a focus on usability, performance, accessibility, and reliable delivery across web and mobile-responsive experiences.B2B Products and Portals* Lead the engineering team responsible for customer, partner, and operational portals, with a focus on complex workflows, enterprise usability, permissions and data access, integrations, and scalable product capabilities.Backend Platforms and Services* Lead the engineering team responsible for core backend services, APIs, data flows, and platform capabilities, with a focus on scalability, reliability, security, performance, and system integration.**What you will do*** Lead, coach, and develop a team of software engineers, including performance management, feedback, career development, hiring, and team health.* Assess and evolve your team's structure, capabilities, and capacity; identify talent gaps and make sound calls on hiring and allocation* Own the technical direction, delivery discipline, and operating rhythm for an engineering domain in partnership with product and engineering leadership.* Translate business needs into technical priorities, sequencing decisions, and executable plans.* Elevate the technical judgment of engineers around you through design reviews, architectural guidance, and mentorship* Stay close enough to the code and architecture to guide hard technical tradeoffs, review critical designs, and step into complex problem solving when needed.* Ensure the team builds and operates high-quality software from design through production operations, including on-call readiness and incident response* Engage directly with product, technical product managers, and executive stakeholders to assess feasibility, cost, risk, and delivery implications of strategic initiatives.* Identify overlapping work, cross-team dependencies, architectural risks, and technical debt before they become constraints.* Hold the team accountable for commitments, surface delivery risks early, and work with product and engineering partners to adjust scope, sequencing or resources when necessary.**What you will bring*** 10+ years of software development experience, including accountability for the performance, delivery, and technical outcomes of an engineering team.* 3+ years of formal people management leading software engineers, with a genuine passion for coaching and for building teams where engineers do their best work* Strong technical depth in at least one relevant engineering domain, with the judgment to go deep when needed and the humility to rely on specialists when appropriate.* Experience leading delivery for complex systems that span multiple services, teams, or domains.* Strong proficiency in the languages, frameworks, and technologies relevant to the domain you would lead, with the ability to ramp quickly in unfamiliar areas.
