The Cloud-Build's Software Engineering discipline within Slalom co-creates custom software, data, and cloud products with clients who are ready to accelerate their digital transformation. The Software Engineering discipline brings our clients’ vision to life! We use modern tools and techniques (including GenAI tools and copilots) to build secure, highly scalable software products that handle our clients\' most innovative and strategic work. We follow Agile practices when building software components and applications that utilize modern frameworks and cloud scale in order to accelerate our clients\' business. Our software engineers are committed to the craft of collaboratively building high-quality and sustainable software products that delight our clients and their customers by taking advantage of emerging tools in an ever-changing technological landscape.

We build full-stack solutions across a range of established and emerging technologies and techniques according to the needs of our clients including:

  • Front end applications targeting native mobile and modern web platforms. Examples include React, Angular and Vue.
  • APIs and back end services built using emerging frameworks and architectural patterns. Examples include Node, Typescript, Java and .Net.
  • Hosting, Generative AI, and application services provided by industry leading cloud providers. Examples include AWS, Azure and GCP.
  • Operational efficiencies leveraging modern ecosystems and automated build and deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborative build practices, including Generative AI tooling, that allow our teams to be agile and responsive to our clients’ needs.

We are also open to hiring a Senior Principal-level.

What You’ll Do

You are a fire-breathing, dragon-slaying, master of technology.You are an architect among architects. Technical leaders look up to you as their technical mentor. You will bring deep expertise around a specific capability within software engineering. You will be responsible for the development of services and offerings while ensuring we have the right team who is capable of delivering at scale. You will manage multi-level reporting structures while managing your capability within TOLA (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas) region. You will likely find yourself leading client delivery as the dedicated senior architect on some of our most complex engagements. You will consistently guide our teams and clients as a technical delivery expert. Specifically, you will:

  • Co-lead discovery and delivery project phases alongside other capability leaders for complex projects and programs as the solution lead.
  • Develop and execute implementation plans in alignment with features and functionality designed to delight clients and customers.
  • Provide oversight and guidance for other software engineers across multiple workstreams on complex projects and programs.
  • Lead and grow emerging software engineering leaders.
  • Collaborate with other software development capabilities to iteratively design, develop, validate, and operate software at scale using agile techniques.
  • Act as the capability lead as aligned to individual markets helping market leaders understand slalom’s build strategy while providing pursuit support.
  • Advance the craft by developing and sharing materials and thought leadership with other builders while providing space for other leaders to do the same.

Go-to-Market Approach

  • Creates demand by proactively seeking out speaking opportunities within the geographic market as a SME and thought leader at external conferences and events to generate net-new opportunities.
  • Supports Slalom-led thought leadership events, in context of Capability and related Client Outcomes.
  • Works to proactively ignite awareness and generate demand for Capability and related client outcomes in the market. Leads Campaigns, RFIs, RFPs, workshops and POCs to ignite specific opportunities.
  • Researches client portfolio needs and adjusts focus to topics of resonance. Focuses on building client relationships at target and active client portfolio.

Business Development & Sales

  • Partners with Industry aligned client partners and sales executives to identify and pursue potential opportunities related to technology-led outcomes.
  • Individually acts as a Solution Lead or SME in pursuit process, identifying appropriate SME from broader capability team as needed. Focuses on specific Customers aligned to Market strategy.
  • Participates in multi-capability solutioning and client outcome based selling motions with GTM team.
  • Works together with peers in other markets and regions in similar roles in how we evolve our GTM approach.

Resource Pipeline

  • Participates in market specific and capability specific rhythm of business for hiring, staffing, workforce planning; participates in planning process for market dedicated capability pool.

People Development

  • Leads individuals both through direct and in-direct reporting relationships to scale GTM focus and results in the market.
  • Has responsibility for an organizational tree that will include team members across levels within a Cloud-Build discipline of expertise.
  • Acts as mentor to other practitioners in area of capability working to serve Market’s portfolio.
  • Participates in performance management via providing feedback on capability team members assigned to market’s pursuits and delivery.

Delivery Management

  • Contributes to delivery via billable roles as Delivery Solution Lead and/or in SME roles within Market’s portfolio, with specific utilization target defined by Level.
  • Engages as a leader within a discipline within the Build Capability, such as Software Engineering, Solution Ownership, Quality Engineering, Intelligence Engineering, Platform Engineering.

  • Product Engineering – Brings extensive experience working with product engineering organizations in either industry or professional services, and leading cross-discipline teams delivering with Agile methodologies with depth in multiple disciplines such as Agile / Product Ownership, Software Engineering, Quality Engineering, DevOps, Machine Learning and Experience Design.
  • Accelerated Engineering with AI – Understands how AI is changing the software development industry with perspectives on how roles are changing, how teams can work and move faster, and how to evolve and mature a technology organization leveraging new developments in Generative AI.
  • Enhance and Operate – Extends teams into production with in modern operations, using techniques such as Site Reliability Engineering, to enhance and operate the digital product and solutions that teams build in modern ways.
  • Team-Based Delivery at Scale – Leverages experience delivering engineering projects using scale teaming models and partners, including experience with Nearshore teams and Offshore teams.
  • Product Mindset – Has a product mindset with experience and approaches to product strategy, ability to work with customers and teams around the outcome they are trying to achieve and shaping product and technology roadmaps.
  • Working with Partners – Works with AWS, Microsoft, Google and other top parnters in a sales or delivery motion. Understanding of how to co-sell, and or work with professional services teams.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this role, we are hiring at the following levels and targeted base pay salary ranges: The targeted base salary pay range for Director is $220,000 to $269,000 and the targeted base salary pay range for Senior Principal is $193,000 to $236,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
