Our Analytics & Insights team is dedicated to solving complex healthcare challenges and improving patient outcomes. This empowers business partners across Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG) to make impactful decisions by leveraging data, analytics, and AI/ML to enable fast, targeted actions in rapidly evolving business contexts.

This role will report to the VP of Analytics & Insights.
The Opportunity
As a visionary and entrepreneurial leader, the Executive Director of Targeting, Optimization, and Measurement sets the strategic direction for a portfolio of digital products that enable best-in-class customer engagement and measurement strategies and execution. This role is responsible for delivering scalable, innovative digital solutions that drive business impact across the enterprise. You will bridge the gap between technical execution and business strategy, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure product adoption and measurable ROI. Beyond product delivery, you are directly accountable for leading, developing, and retaining a high-performing team by fostering a culture of continuous growth and engagement.
Accountabilities:
Strategic Product Leadership
  • Vision & Roadmap: Define and execute the end-to-end strategic roadmap for the Targeting, Optimization, and Measurement products, overseeing the full product lifecycle from incubation to sunsetting.
  • Resource Allocation: Manage long-term investments and resource allocation, collaborating with other Suite Leads to balance trade-offs across the analytics portfolio.
  • Scalability: Ensure products are designed for scalability across the portfolio, maintaining alignment with Roche Digital Technology (RDT) and the business.

Operational Excellence & Innovation
  • Analytics Optimization: Partner with Customer Engagement, Marketing, and Analytics teams to streamline segmentation, targeting, call planning, field effectiveness, and channel measurement analytics and reporting while prioritizing high-impact use cases.
  • Advanced Capabilities: Collaborate with Data Science to integrate machine learning and AI solutions into the analytics product suite.
  • Omnichannel Strategy: Design measurement strategies for campaign effectiveness and marketing ROI, partnering with Marketing and Digital Experience teams to optimize customer engagement.

Adoption & Performance
  • Executive Advocacy: Serve as the primary champion for the suite, articulating value to senior stakeholders and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Change Management: Lead structured change management and adoption strategies in partnership with Activation teams to ensure products are successfully integrated into business workflows.
  • Measurement: Establish and track KPIs, efficiency gains, and business impact metrics to validate product performance.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Drive alignment across Commercial, Medical, and Access (CMG) to refine roadmaps based on evolving business trends and requirements.
  • Governance: Ensure all product activities comply with enterprise standards, legal regulations, and policy frameworks.

People & Culture
  • Team Development: Attract, lead, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a culture of engagement, career growth, and performance excellence.

Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative, scientific, engineering, or technical discipline required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in customer or product-focused roles, with a strong emphasis on targeting, segmentation, next best action, operational efficiency, performance tracking, and/or business optimization, with a minimum of 6+ years in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or digital health space.
  • Proven ability to own and manage the full product lifecycle, including visioning, roadmap creation, execution, and impact measurement.
  • Understanding of how to design and evolve user & customer-centric experiences to drive customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated success in facilitating cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proven success in building and scaling analytics platforms or products (dashboards, modeling pipelines, tools) and deploying at enterprise level.
  • Deep expertise in field analytics (e.g., targeting and call planning optimization, next best action, sizing, field effectiveness analysis and performance reporting).
  • Extensive experience in marketing ROI measurement and optimization (e.g., marketing mix modeling, channel mix optimization, resource allocation)
  • Experience in media (paid, owned, earned) analytics and digital analytics is a plus.
  • Proven track record of driving change management and user adoption in complex matrixed environments.
  • Extensive experience working with data science, machine learning, and AI teams and supercharge analytics capabilities and impact.
  • Experience working in a standard DevOps agile setting or bringing agile best-practice mentorship to the team.
  • Strong large team leadership and management abilities, with experience in coaching, developing, and inspiring diverse talent.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $227,500 - $422,500 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
