Job description

Lead the work that powers automation.

At Shields Manufacturing in Tualatin, Oregon, you’ll guide a skilled crew producing close‑tolerance parts that drive industrial robotics, automation, electronics, and wafer processing. As our Precision Machining Production Team Lead, you will report to the Manufacturing Manager and take full ownership of the day shift (M–F, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.)—on site, on the floor, where it matters.

Why this role matters

Precinmac—nine independently owned manufacturing businesses across the U.S. and Canada—stands for continuous improvement, on‑time delivery, and unwavering quality. Your leadership ensures our Makino and UMC operations meet those standards every day.

Your mission
  • Deliver on time, every time: Plan, assign, and supervise work across cells; track daily progress to meet due dates without trading away quality, safety, or equipment life.
  • Elevate people and process: Train, coach, and set measurable goals; keep morale high, celebrate wins, and build team ownership and belonging.
  • Engineer reliability: Troubleshoot issues, organize routine service, schedule repairs, and procure parts to keep uptime high.
  • Protect quality and assets: Ensure proper tooling and methods for each job; align with AS9100 policies; document and communicate actions and irregularities to maintain cross‑shift continuity.
  • Collaborate to move fast: Inform Quoting and Engineering of capabilities and lead times; guide prototyping and short‑run production of complex, high‑precision components in a quick‑turn job‑shop setting.
What you bring
  • Leadership / People Management
  • CNC Machine Installation
  • ERP & MRP Systems
  • AS9100 Experience
Machines & technologies you’ll touch
  • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) — Makino, Haas
  • CNC Swiss Lathe
Compensation & benefits
  • Salary: $80,000–$95,000
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Life and Disability Insurance
  • 401(k) with Company Match
  • Generous PTO
  • Discretionary quarterly bonus program
How you lead (our leadership DNA)

You hire great people from inside and outside the company, set clear and challenging team goals aligned with the business, and create an environment of open dialogue, shared success, and strong belonging. You spot potential and develop it—through defined objectives, the right resources, and measured outcomes—providing steady encouragement and feedback so others build the knowledge and skills to accomplish goals and solve problems.

Values you’ll feel daily

Trust, Gratitude, Action, Growth, and Excellence guide how we show up and deliver.
