Design the Sound of Luxury Flight as a Professional Engineer - Acoustics & Vibration
PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a talented Professional Engineer - Acoustics & Vibration to join our team in partnership with a leader in the aviation industry. Job Title: Professional, Engineering - Acoustics & Vibration
Job Type: Contractor, Contractor-to-Hire, or Direct Placement
Work Location: Candidates may be based in Wichita, KS, Dallas, TX, Hartford, CT, Tucson, AZ or Opa-locka, FL
Work Schedule: Hybrid - 2 days onsite per week (subject to change)
Your Impact
As an Acoustics & Vibration Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering premium passenger comfort across advanced aircraft platforms. Your work will directly influence cabin noise reduction, vibration control, product enhancements, and future aircraft development programs. Through simulation, testing, and collaboration, you'll help define the next standard of aviation comfort.
What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with engineering experts on numerical simulations and laboratory measurements supporting aircraft programs
  • Support cabin acoustics initiatives for current aircraft platforms during production, delivery, and in-service operations
  • Investigate and resolve cabin acoustics and vibration issues while maintaining premium comfort standards
  • Partner with engineering and production teams to integrate new features such as connectivity, interiors, and comfort enhancements
  • Develop and evaluate tools and technologies for future aircraft cabin environments
  • Create simulation models using FE, SEA, ray tracing, and related methods to assess and optimize acoustic performance
  • Advance simulation methods and engineering tools to improve design capability and speed
  • Set up and participate in laboratory validation test campaigns
  • Plan and support flight and ground tests to measure acoustic comfort and characterize vibration environments
  • Analyze test data, prepare technical reports, and present findings with clear recommendations
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Acoustics preferred
  • 3 to 8 years of relevant industry experience in aerospace, transportation, construction, or related sectors
  • Strong knowledge of acoustics and vibration principles, including modeling, measurement techniques, and signal processing
  • Expertise in one or more of the following:
    • Finite element methods for structural dynamics/acoustics
    • Sound design for buildings, performance halls, or complex environments
  • Strong planning, organizational, and multitasking abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aircraft cabin acoustics or transportation interior environments
  • Familiarity with lab, ground, or flight test campaigns
  • Advanced simulation software experience
  • French language skills are an asset

Pay Details: $81.46 to $117.26 per hour
