EPRI's Applications team is looking for a versatile, collaborative engineer to join our group. You will help lead EPRI's efforts to apply cutting-edge technology and subject matter expertise to client-specific challenges in grid planning and operations, distributed energy resources, electric transportation, and other end-use technologies.

Our team develops actionable insights regarding the impact and capabilities of new technologies through utility-driven demonstrations and cross-cutting projects. We collaborate with experts across EPRI to produce deliverables focused on individual member needs - executed within shorter time frames and aimed at answering nearer-term research questions. This is a fast-paced, high-autonomy environment where you'll take ownership of projects and client relationships early in your career.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead projects end-to-end - from scoping and design through execution and delivery, taking ownership of project direction and client outcomes

  • Design experiments for new technologies in both the laboratory and field

  • Solve systems integration challenges with utilities, manufacturers, and other research organizations

  • Apply the latest techniques in data analytics, machine learning, and advanced visualization to communicate results to a wide range of audiences

  • Engage directly with EPRI members - support business development efforts and build lasting client relationships

  • Present research findings to members and the broader scientific and engineering community through meetings, conferences, and publications

  • Periodic travel to member locations, meetings, and conferences for research and technology transfer

What We're Looking For:

  • Project leadership - ability to lead projects in new and unfamiliar spaces, think critically about what comes next, and get up to speed quickly

  • Technical background in power systems, power electronics, or emerging energy technologies

  • Versatility and adaptability - comfort working across a wide range of technical domains

  • Strong communication skills and a client-service mindset

  • Interest or aptitude in business development and client engagement

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, R, MATLAB, etc.) for data analytics, automation, or simulation

  • Consulting-type experience (designing studies, managing client deliverables) is a plus

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 4-6 years of relevant professional experience

  • Master's degree in a technical field with 2-5 years of relevant professional experience

  • PhD in a technical field with 0-3 years of relevant professional experience

  • Final level and compensation will be determined based on education and experience

Location:

  • Position open to candidates based in the US or Canada; preferred placement in an EPRI office (relocation benefits available)

  • Remote work considered for the right candidate

Why EPRI Applications?

  • Take on senior-level project responsibility early in your career

  • High autonomy in determining project direction and strategy

  • Collegial, supportive team environment focused on growth and mentorship

  • Exposure to a broad range of cutting-edge energy technologies and utility challenges
