  • Partner closely with the Head of RIA Business Development to prioritize target firms and support the broader RIA growth strategy.

Job description

The Company

InvestX launched in 2014 and is a late-stage venture fund investing out of Fund 5. With over US$700 million in investments and 35+ portfolio companies including Palantir, Anthropic, SpaceX, Airbnb, SoFi, Spotify, DocuSign, and many more, we work with leading North American wealth management firms and family office clients to offer multi-position and single-purpose funds.

InvestX is backed by leading financial institutions including Jefferies, Virtu Financial, and Canaccord Genuity and has been featured in CNBC, Forbes, Bloomberg, U.S. News, Business Insider, Reuters, The Globe and Mail, and other leading publications.

About the Role

We are looking for a driven, high-energy Director, RIA Business Development to help expand InvestX's Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) distribution channel across the U.S.

This is a prospecting-first sales role for someone who gets energy from creating opportunities. You will spend a significant portion of your time identifying target RIAs, cold calling, executing outbound outreach, finding the right decision-makers, and turning new conversations into qualified meetings and opportunities.

Working closely with the Head of RIA Business Development, you will help build the top of the sales funnel and expand InvestX's reach within the independent wealth management market.

We're looking for a true hunter mentality. You are persistent, competitive, curious, and resourceful. You're comfortable picking up the phone, hearing "no," following up again, and finding another way into an account. You don't wait for opportunities to come to you—you create them.

Location:

United States (Remote) or Hybrid (3 days in office) New York

What You'll Do Prospect & Generate New Opportunities
  • Conduct high-volume outbound prospecting into RIAs across the U.S.
  • Cold call, email, and leverage LinkedIn and other prospecting tools to initiate new relationships.
  • Research target firms and identify financial advisors, CIOs, investment teams, portfolio managers, and other key decision-makers.
  • Secure qualified introductory meetings and new opportunities for the RIA Business Development team.
  • Consistently build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective RIA relationships.
  • Execute persistent, thoughtful follow-up to move prospects from initial outreach into active conversations.
  • Maintain accurate prospecting activity, contacts, opportunities, and next steps within Salesforce.
  • Identify creative ways to penetrate firms and reach decision-makers beyond traditional outbound outreach.
Support RIA Business Development
  • Partner closely with the Head of RIA Business Development to prioritize target firms and execute the broader RIA growth strategy.
  • Prepare prospect research, account intelligence, meeting materials, and follow-up.
  • Support opportunities as they progress from initial introduction through due diligence and approval.
  • Coordinate with National Accounts, Compliance, Legal, Operations, Marketing, and Sales to help move opportunities forward.
  • Track outstanding requirements, follow-ups, and next steps to maintain momentum throughout the sales process.
  • Develop an understanding of each firm's investment process, alternative investment requirements, and decision-making structure.
Build Relationships & Market Knowledge
  • Develop relationships with advisors and key stakeholders throughout the RIA ecosystem.
  • Build a strong understanding of the independent wealth management landscape and how RIAs evaluate private market investments.
  • Monitor competitor activity, market developments, and advisor demand.
  • Gather market feedback to help inform InvestX's sales approach, product positioning, and prospecting strategy.
  • Represent InvestX at select industry events, conferences, and advisor meetings.
What We're Looking For
  • 3–5+ years of sales, business development, wholesaling, lead generation, or distribution experience within wealth management, asset management, financial services, or alternative investments.
  • Demonstrated success with outbound prospecting, cold calling, and generating qualified sales opportunities.
  • Comfortable spending a significant portion of the day actively prospecting and speaking with new contacts.
  • A true hunter who enjoys building relationships from scratch rather than solely managing an existing book of business.
  • Persistent and resilient—you understand that rejection and follow-up are part of successful business development.
  • Confident communicator who is comfortable engaging financial advisors and senior investment professionals.
  • Resourceful and curious, with the ability to research firms, uncover opportunities, and find the right path into an account.
  • Competitive and motivated by measurable goals and results.
  • Highly organized with strong CRM and pipeline management discipline.
  • Self-directed and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Collaborative and excited to learn from and support senior sales leadership while building toward greater account ownership.
  • Eligibility to travel between the US and Canada to attend meetings; ability to travel as needed.
  • A Background Check including Criminal Record, Credit, and other verificationsasrequiredfor this position.
Nice to Have
  • Existing relationships within the RIA or broader independent wealth management ecosystem.
  • Experience with private equity, private credit, venture capital, hedge funds, or other alternative investment products.
  • Experience within an asset manager, alternative investment manager, wealth management firm, or financial technology platform.
  • Familiarity with RIA due diligence and investment approval processes.
  • Experience using Salesforce and sales prospecting platforms.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 or willingness to obtain relevant licensing.
