FocusPoint is partnering with a national professional services firm to identify an experienced Assurance Manager to support its growing Banking & Financial Services practice. This role is ideal for an audit professional who brings deep industry knowledge, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality assurance services to financial institutions.

Role Overview

The Assurance Manager will oversee audit and assurance engagements for clients across the banking and financial services sector. This includes community banks, credit unions, specialty lenders, and other regulated financial entities. The position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements, and a consultative approach to client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage assurance engagements for banking and financial services clients
  • Oversee planning, fieldwork, and reporting phases to ensure compliance with GAAP, GAAS, and industry‑specific regulatory requirements
  • Evaluate internal controls, credit processes, loan review methodologies, and operational risk areas
  • Review financial statements, disclosures, and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Provide technical guidance on banking‑related accounting standards and regulatory expectations
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and senior associates
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to client leadership and internal stakeholders
  • Support practice growth through quality service delivery and relationship development
  • Identify opportunities to enhance audit efficiency and strengthen client value

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA required or in active pursuit
  • 5+ years of progressive audit/assurance experience
  • Direct experience auditing or supporting banking or financial services organizations (required)
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, and regulatory frameworks applicable to financial institutions
  • Proficiency with audit software and Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project‑management skills

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with community banks, credit unions, or specialty finance organizations
  • Familiarity with FDICIA, SOX, CECL, or other financial‑sector compliance requirements
  • Prior experience managing multiple engagements simultaneously
