Job description

RIA Tax Manager, with a fast-growing Northeast Ohio private wealth and investment firm, seeking to strengthen and expand their tax team; flexible office arrangements in both Akron and Cleveland. Relatively young management group of RIA advisors seeking tax advising experience for small-business owners ($1M to $30M), at least seven years of public accounting experience, who can commit to a full-time hybrid role of no more than 55 hours per week. The compensation quite competitive, and the ultimate opportunity for partnership if desired.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Oversee client-focused tax planning, compliance, and advisory services.
  • Role well suited for an experienced tax professional who wants to remain close to clients and technical work while mentoring younger tax team for service quality.
  • Maintain solid client relationships on tax-related matters.
  • Develop proactive tax planning strategies to help clients manage tax liabilities and support broader financial objectives.

Duties:

  • Maintain high standards for technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and client service.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop tax managers and staff while providing technical guidance and performance feedback.
  • Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate relevant implications to clients and internal team members.
  • Support the continued growth and development of the tax practice.
  • Help build the tax research and tax compliance expertise


What You Need:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in accounting.
  • 7+ years in a CPA firm, financial services firm, or comparable tax environment.
  • Some supervisory leadership experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, S corporation, trust, gift, federal, state, and local taxation.
  • Experience managing tax engagements and client relationships.
  • Some experience supervising and developing tax professionals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong professional judgment, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a client-service environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Active CPA license.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience serving privately held businesses and their owners.
  • Experience with tax planning and consulting in addition to tax compliance.
  • Experience working with financial planning, wealth management, or investment management professionals.
  • Experience contributing to the growth or development of a tax practice.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters UltraTax CS and Practice CS.
