The expected hourly range for this position is between $25.20 to $39.20. This range may vary based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, education, and geographic location.
JOB SUMMARY: The Technical Director oversees the planning, setup, and operation of audiovisual systems for live, in-person client meetings around the world, ensuring high-quality sound, lighting, and video performance. This role involves leading technical teams, troubleshooting AV technical issues, managing client assets, and coordinating with clients or production staff to meet their requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The accountabilities listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
  • Supervises and coordinates AV vendors, technicians, and other crew before and during events.
  • Oversees load-in and teardown of audio-visual equipment, ensuring efficiency and compliance.
  • Monitors progress of the meeting venue setup and maintains communication with clients to ensure the meeting room is set up to their expectations.
  • Collaborates with clients, event coordinators, venue/hotel liaisons, and producers to align technical solutions with creative goals.
  • Enforces venue safety standards and compliance with electrical and fire regulations.
  • Troubleshoots live technical issues quickly during events to minimize disruption.
  • Manages client content assets as well as ongoing updates to ensure the most current and desired material is being used.
  • Must be available on-site for unexpected or last-minute sessions, additions, or change to ensure client success and desired outcome are the priorities.
  • Creates and implements video graphics and animations using Premiere Pro (or similar software application).
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor. These may, on occasion, be unrelated to the position described here.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience to perform the job.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in audio-visual roles within the live meetings, production or AV industry.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale events and AV teams.
  • Hands-on proficiency with core AV systems (signal flow, audio mixing, video switching, and projection/LED) and virtual-meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, Webex).
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed with regular overnight travel required as well as early mornings, late nights and weekend.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively in team settings.
  • Adaptability to various work environments - in-person, hybrid, and virtual meetings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a customer-first mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail and troubleshooting capabilities.
