Job description

Position Summary

The purpose of the position is to provide administrative and clerical support to Lincoln Home National Historic Site. This individual placement is designed to expand administrative operations by assisting with enhancing the park's records management process and ensure that the park is aligned with NPS, DOI, & NARA records management process and other administrative duties as assigned. The individual will work closely with volunteers, NPS employees, & park partners to provide guidance on records management and other administrative processes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • The individual will work directly with the park staff to assemble reports, files, and documents relating to calls. This will require that information be obtained from a variety of sources and may involve extensive searching, researching, telephone calls, etc.
  • Serve as one of the park records management assistants. Assist in separating temporary and records management. Assist with creating and maintaining records. Assisting with preparing records to be sent to the Federal Records Center and the National Archives.
  • Assist with scheduling meetings and tracking taskings for headquarters. Answer employees' questions or find the right person to get answers from.
  • Perform or oversee supply functions including receiving incoming supplies, materials and equipment, checking items against acquisition documents for completeness, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Use computers and appropriate software for data collection, analysis and collating. Prepare reports, forms and tabular material, providing proper spacing, heading and arrangement for ease of understanding and information processing. The individual will also make recommendations for improving processes.

Marginal Duties

Collateral duties may include assisting park staff with property management, staffing the visitor center desk, interpretative programming, clerical duties and other duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Interns must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Ability to be both self-directed/work alone, and be positive, contributing member of a group
  • Possess a valid driver's license and an insurable driving record (documentation to be provided upon request)
  • Willing to undergo and pass a Federal Background Check

This SCA Position is authorized under the Public Land Corps Authority. All participants must be between the ages of 16 and 30, inclusive, or veterans age 35 or younger. Participants must also be a citizen or national of the United States or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States. Hours served can be applied toward the Public Land Corps (PLC) hiring authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to type quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute

Living Accommodations

Members will commute to work from. Park housing NOT provided.

Compensation

  • Living allowance - $600/week
  • Housing allowance - $1000/month (5 months)
  • Relocation allowance - $1,100 (paid once)

All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
