Overview
MBP is seeking new Team Members for growth opportunities to work on meaningful projects in a higher education environment to assist with the planning, design, and construction for a mix of academic, laboratory, residential, athletic, data centers/IT infrastructure, central utility plant, and campus infrastructure projects. For this position, we seek candidates in the Baltimore, Maryland area with 10 or more years of combined education and/or experience that demonstrates advanced knowledge and experience in the execution of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing focused projects.
Team Members in this position will undertake management responsibilities providing on-site owner's representation services for new construction, renovation, and site improvement projects. Responsibilities for the position will include providing project and construction management services; design and constructability review; project planning; QA/QC field inspection and management; project controls including scheduling and cost estimating; and project close-out including commissioning, acceptance, and building turnover to operations support.
Responsibilities
Assist the Owner's Project Management staff in managing assigned tasks on a project for the client, including assisting in managing a team and coordinating the work of various project entities (designer, contractor, owner personnel). Assists in preparation, monitoring, and managing client project budgets and internal budgets. Analyzes and optimizes internal and external processes.
  • Undertake management responsibilities for some or all aspects of the design and construction of new construction and/or renovation projects
  • Maintain a positive and productive working relationships with peer leaders, superiors, and subordinates.
  • Provide on-site owner's representation and on-site staff augmentation support on tasks as assigned.
  • Conduct site visits, identifies potential engineering problems, and proposes solutions and alternatives.
  • Provide subject matter technical engineering expertise for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to support and assist in reviewing technical work on assigned projects.
  • Formulate solutions, tactics, and strategies to verify adherence to project budgets, schedules, work plans, performance requirements, and contracts.
  • Monitor progress, utilization, and quality of work produced as assigned.
  • Help to manage, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned staff
  • Assist with mentoring and facilitating the imparting of technical knowledge to staff, including the transfer of technical knowledge from the more senior personnel to those with less experience.
  • Adjust workload to changes and work to meet deadlines.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Engages in business development, participates in marketing activities, actively participates in company initiatives, and assists in providing project management on small to mid-size projects. Helps to prepare, monitor, and manage the client's project budgets. Works closely with project accountant to manage individual multipliers, utilization forecasts and project margins. Attends and participates in professional association meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of engineering. Other duties as assigned.

Expertise with MBP's diverse services. Direct client contact and client care. Operates at expert level in one or more service areas with responsibility for final work product.
  • Capable of managing multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to work on-site to support the owner's project management team.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to analyze and optimize internal and external processes.
  • Able to stand and sit as needed on project work sites, climb ladders, work at heights, and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain.

GUIDANCE/RESPONSIBILITY:
  • Generally able to work independently and determine solutions.
  • Provide training to less experienced personnel.
  • Assist in managing the profitability of projects and their forecasted budgets.
  • Receives overall guidance on emphasis and approach.

SUPERVISORY:
Capable of supervising individuals and teams. Generally performs in a managerial role, coordinating and monitoring the efforts of the project design team and client stakeholders.
STATUS:
Full-time
The base salary range for this position is $107,000.00 to $154,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on work location, qualifications, experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training.
