Our Directors of Accounting serve as trusted partners to nonprofit clients, acting as the primary liaison for financial strategy, oversight, and execution. This is a client-facing leadership role where you’ll help organizations strengthen their financial operations and make informed decisions that support their mission and long-term success.

Key Responsibilities Client Partnership & Financial Leadership
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison for nonprofit clients
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to support decision-making
  • Help clients navigate complex financial situations and align strategy with their goals
Financial Oversight & Reporting
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial statements
  • Monitor financial performance and support clients in operating within budget guidelines
  • Lead budgeting processes and provide ongoing financial analysis and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit funding and reporting requirements li>
Project & Grant Accounting
  • Oversee project accounting, including tracking budgets, costs, and timelines
  • Ensure accurate reporting across multiple projects and funding sources
  • Support compliance with federal, state, and local grant requirements
Operational Excellence & Advisory
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, efficiency, and overall execution
  • Provide best practices and guidance to strengthen client operations
  • Partner with internal teams to deliver comprehensive financial support
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members, including senior accountants and managers
  • Provide coaching and guidance to support team performance and growth
  • Foster collaboration across teams aligned to client delivery
Client Experience
  • Address client concerns proactively and ensure timely resolution
  • Maintain a high standard of service and client satisfaction
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (with accounting/finance focus)
  • 8+ years of accounting or finance experience
  • Experience working with nonprofit organizations
  • Experience managing project accounting across multiple initiatives
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local grant administration, including compliance and budgeting
  • Proven ability to manage multiple clients and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and business acumen
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including experience working with senior leadership
Preferred
  • CPA license
  • MBA
  • Experience in a consulting or business process outsourcing (BPO) environment
  • Experience leading both in-person and distributed teams
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting systems and Excel
