Director, HR

Paradigm

Middleton, WI โ€ข Remote

Full-time

Posted 23 days ago

Job description

Paradigm is a software company transforming the way that the residential, construction & building product industries operate across the globe. We are looking for a Director, HR to be part of revolutionizing these industries. We are building the future with modern software engineering, agent-assisted systems, and mobile-first experiences. We are powered by our parent company, Builders FirstSource (NYSE: BLDR): a Fortune 300 company with over $23 billion in revenue and more than 29,000 employees across 550+ locations, BFS is redefining construction through data, digital infrastructure, and AI-powered innovation.

What You Will Do:

  • Manage and coach the HR team and advise managers and executives on complex personnel issues and conflict resolution.

  • Lead the execution and continuous improvement of talent, engagement, and development programs that support organizational growth and culture.

  • Partner with the Digital Leadership Team, Division/Department Leaders, and Finance in an agile environment to provide strategic input on hiring roadmaps, compensation philosophy, and org design.

  • Oversee the full recruitment lifecycle. Build a strong employer brand to attract top talent globally and use data-driven processes to reduce bias.

  • Drive engagement and retention through strong performance management, feedback loops, and career development (L&D) pathways.

  • Build and maintain the HR tech stack (HRIS, ATS, Payroll) to automate administrative work, ensure data accuracy, and scale People workflows.

  • Design competitive, market-aligned compensation and benefits packages (equity, remote perks) across geographies; support budgeting and forecasting for these programs.

  • Enforce and collaborate with the VP of HR to set HR policy across multi-state and global operations, including employment law, worker classification, and risk assessment.

  • We are a scrappy HR dept. If coffee needs to be made-we do it. If furniture needs to be moved-we step up. You must be willing to help out with some random, outside of the traditional role duties as they arise.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • 12+ years of experience in HR or People Operations, including 5+ years in a leadership role. Preferred experience in tech.

  • Skilled in managing a distributed workforce; strong grasp of US employment law and familiarity with international hiring via EOR models (e.g., Deel) and Canada is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience designing performance cycles (e.g. OKRs, 360 reviews) and handling employee relations with both empathy and firmness.

  • Extensive experience with modern HR tools and using people data to inform decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, critical for sustaining culture and transparency in a remote-first org.

  • High emotional intelligence, with a track record as a confidant to employees and a strategic advisor to executive leadership.

  • Comfortable operating at every level of the organization, from strategic planning to hands-on execution.
