Summary:
The Director of Data and Analytics will be responsible for establishing and leading the credit union's enterprise analytics strategy, enabling trusted, timely, and actionable data insights across all departments. A key part of this role is to create or enable measurable value in the enterprise, as it related to Data and Analytics. This senior leader will manage a growing team of analysts and engineers while also championing data governance, platform modernization, and cross-functional engagement with other business units. This role is critical to shaping the future of data at the credit union and delivering strategic measurable value through initiatives such as Member 360, performance scorecards, campaign analytics, and predictive modeling.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop and lead the enterprise data and analytics strategy, operating model, and multi-year roadmap.
  • Manage the data and analytics team including hiring, mentoring, and developing talent.
  • Oversee enterprise data sourcing, organizing, curation, visualization, reporting, and advanced analytics delivery through agentic AI and AI Analytics.
  • Collaborating with Enterprise Architects on platform scalability and architecture.
  • Ensure that data governance best practices are established and adhered to.
  • Measure data quality by assessing the datasets related to their business domain (e.g., correctness, completeness, timeliness of information in business context).
  • Track data literacy levels, as data literacy is the basis for becoming more data-driven as an organization (e.g., training delivered, skills attainment, staff performance).
  • Create a value-based story of how data and analytics capabilities are necessary to run a successful organization. Express business outcomes in terms of your stakeholders (e.g., in terms of revenue growth, or cost and risk reduction).
  • Collaborate across business units to deliver actionable insights and use cases.
  • Lead the design and implementation of Member 360, fraud detection, segmentation models.
  • Represent the data and analytics function in enterprise planning and technology forums.
  • Actively participate in budget planning and resource management for data and analytics capabilities.
  • Serve as escalation point for high-impact data or analytics issues.
  • Develop and own the enterprise data and analytics strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary team of analysts, engineers, and data stewards.
  • Deliver advanced dashboards, KPIs, data pipelines, and self-service analytics.
  • Drive data governance, data quality, and operational standards.
  • Serve as the data thought partner to business unit leaders and the Executive team.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects on platform architecture decisions.
  • Partner with IT, Security, Compliance, and other business stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
  • Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).

Knowledge and Skills:
To perform this role effectively, the Director must demonstrate leadership, communication, and technical expertise across data analytics, governance, business intelligence, and organizational engagement.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or related field required, Master's degree preferred.
Experience and Other Requirements:
  • 10+ years of experience in data and analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering.
  • 4+ years in a leadership role in a related capacity.
Skills:
  • Experience delivering dashboards, predictive models, and enterprise analytics programs.
  • Knowledge of core and digital banking platforms such as Symitar, Alkami, MeridianLink, or similar financial banking systems.
  • Knowledge of other data platforms such as Fabric and Snowflake.
  • Experience managing cloud migration or data platform modernization projects.
  • Experience with predictive modeling, member segmentation, or machine learning use cases in financial services.
  • Advanced experience with developing and building high performing teams.
  • Experience with data governance, security, and compliance.
  • Proficiency with the Databricks data platform., visualization tools (e.g., Power BI), and modern analytics stacks.
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTML, Java, JavaScript, or SQL, SQL Tools, and ETL, tools.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization and develop positive working relationships.
  • Intermediate knowledge and experience with cloud technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience of understanding mid-level database, including proprietary and/or structured or open relational databases.
  • Familiarity with tactical frameworks, including Kanban and Scrum, as well as product-centric delivery models.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of evolving technologies in the financial industry.
  • A good understanding of the credit union industry.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills required.
  • Excellent communication/influence skills required, including reports; presentations; group facilitation skills; ability to develop professional relationships.
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, establish and meet deadlines, coordinate activities with other departments, and perform job with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently, able to redirect priorities based upon current workload (Ability to react to current situations).
  • Must be able to perform all functions independently with minimal supervision in a reasonable amount of time.
