Job description

We are seeking a Bilingual Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist to become a part of our team! You will perform routine administrative and clinical assignments to keep the medical facility running smoothly.

Position Summary:

This position assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician. Interview patients, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height), training new staff, and record information on patients' charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Inform patients of costs for care being provided and guides them to appropriate resources for further information. Type routine correspondence and reports from dictation or handwritten copy. Answer telephones, screen callers, relay messages and greet visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine clinical tasks to support medical staff
  • Handle all administrative duties in a timely manner
  • Communicate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
  • Escort patients to exam rooms
  • Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations.
  • Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
  • Register new patients and update/verify existing patient demographics by collecting detailed patient information and eligibility status that is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Interviews patients to obtain their medical history.
  • Records patient medical history, vital signs, and test results in patient medical files.
  • Performs routine screening tests, such as height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks.
  • Training new hiring staff
  • Draws blood, removes sutures, changes dressings.
  • Purchases and maintains supplies and equipment.
  • Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment and instruments.
  • Properly disposes of contaminated supplies.
  • Assists physicians during examination by handing over instruments and materials.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate's degree. Successful completion of a certified medical assistant (CMA) preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare administration or other related fields
