We work at the highest levels on cutting-edge communications networking projects for public sector and non-profit clients throughout the U.S. Current projects include long-term fiber optic and wireless regional communications interoperability initiatives in the Washington, DC area, funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, design and implementation of wireless networks, engineering design and business modeling and project oversight for broadband networks, and advising the federal government.

Job Description

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
This position requires a little more than a desk and a computer. You will be outside, in the elements fairly often at construction sites to review work. As such you must be able to drive personal vehicle to job sites as needed (you will be reimbursed for mileage). You should be able to utilize hand tools, a cellular telephone and a significant amount of test equipment. Additionally, you must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop and reach.
Qualifications
Desired Skills & Expertise:
1) You have at least five or more years of experience designing fiber optic, coaxial or telephone outside plant;
2) You have a general expertise with AutoCAD or comparable design programs;
3) You have experience overseeing and training junior team members;
4) You have the ability to estimate costs and construction timelines;
5) You have the ability to write brief memos and notes for reporting and documentation;
6) You have the ability to review design drawings;
7) You have experience with state and local permitting processes;
8) You have experience with pole attachment and make ready.
This position will include the following tasks:
1) Aid in creating project budgets for Outside Plant Design and Construction;
2) Maintaining and updating records in OSP Insight and Viso Ring diagrams;
3) Aid in coordination of Outside and Inside Plant design and construction activities;
4) Become familiar with the different systems needed to fulfill the job requirements within your first month;
5) Deliver jobs on-time and within budget;
6) Maintain accurate records;
7) Have an extremely strong attention to detail.
