Job description

Overview

The Laboratory Director is responsible to provide oversight and leadership to both hospital and clinical laboratory departments and operations. Provides innovative leadership to maximize the entity’s contribution to overall corporation performance through effective planning as well as human and financial goals of the corporation. Responsible for the laboratory operations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, submit and manage budget for assigned departments.
  • Supervise staff and ensure compliance with all policies. Ensure adequate staffing in each department. Oversee scheduling and daily operations.
  • Monitor patient satisfaction and implement plans for improvement.
  • Implement and assess a comprehensive quality assurance program to meet regulatory agency requirements, including safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain operational plans for laboratory instruments and management of departmental documentation to meet the College of American Pathology (CAP) requirements.
  • Plans, implements and markets services which meet the needs of identified internal and external customers through evaluation and assessment of customer needs and expectations resulting in development of improvement plans with measureable goals to enhance services.
  • Provides leadership through facilitating Baptist vision/values through personal example and interaction with staff to communicate policies and goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Specifications Experience Minimum Required
  • 3-5 or more years of laboratory supervisory experience with demonstrated abilities to direct team activities as well as in basic business applications.
Preferred/Desired Education Minimum Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration
