Strategic Space Planner

Locations: On-Site – Springfield, VA

Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI

Salary Range: Commensurate with Experience


ABOUT THIS ROLE

The Strategic Space Planner III develops and executes strategic space planning initiatives that support evolving mission requirements across the facilities. This role partners with customers, facilities teams, and design professionals to optimize workspace utilization, manage space allocations, and ensure compliance with Agency Master Plans, Strategic Facilities Plans, and Space Management Policy.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Conduct strategic space utilization assessments, planning studies, and allocation analyses to support current and future mission requirements.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and report on strategic space plans through project completion.
  • Coordinate with customers to identify, evaluate, and resolve office space and seating requirements.
  • Optimize workspace utilization through office layout analysis and space planning initiatives that improve operational efficiency and employee experience.
  • Conduct architectural surveys, gather space requirements, and develop Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for renovations and space modifications.
  • Review floor plans and Design Intent Documents (DIDs) with BIM/CAD teams to ensure facility designs accurately reflect customer requirements.
  • Perform semiannual campus-wide space audits to validate occupancy data and maintain accurate space records within automated tracking systems.
  • Manage space requests, seating assignments, seat swaps, office moves, and related projects using Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) software.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support strategic facilities planning and ensure efficient use of organizational space.
  • Provide exceptional customer service while applying strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field preferred.
  • Seven (7)+ years of commercial design, strategic space planning, facilities planning, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community facilities, planning, or production environments.
  • Knowledge of DoD space management standards, including BOMA space measurement and utilization principles.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and IT construction drawings.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and SharePoint.
  • Experience using Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) software for space planning and occupancy management.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, customer service, communication, and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
