Director of Safety & Training – CDL Program

Location: North Andover, MA


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Safety & Training to lead instructional operations for a CDL training program focused on developing the next generation of professional drivers. This senior-level leadership role is responsible for ensuring excellence in training delivery, safety, and regulatory compliance across all phases of instruction.

As a key member of campus leadership, you will oversee and mentor instructional staff, maintain high safety and education standards, and ensure fleet and facility compliance with all applicable regulations. Your leadership will directly influence student success, instructor development, and overall program quality.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor all CDL instructional staff
  • Oversee all phases of CDL instruction, including classroom, yard, and road training
  • Recruit, train, evaluate, and develop instructors to ensure instructional quality and compliance
  • Develop and update curriculum to align with industry best practices and regulatory standards
  • Conduct student orientations and support engagement through program completion
  • Coordinate CDL testing and scheduling with RMV/DMV agencies
  • Ensure vehicle safety, fleet maintenance, and compliance with OSHA and DOT regulations
  • Manage instructional budgets, payroll, and equipment procurement
  • Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability across campus operations


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Valid CDL-A license (required)
  • 3+ years of CDL driving experience (required)
  • 2+ years of management or supervisory experience
  • Experience in driver training, fleet safety, or technical education
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to meet DOT medical and physical requirements
