Job description

STR is seeking a Director of Test to join a new group focused on the complex test and evaluation challenges that exist in the modern world. In this role, you will serve as the technical, programmatic, and customer expert, establishing STR as the industry standard for advanced test and evaluation product delivery in the classified execution of test campaigns. You will help build and guide an expert team that can plan, analyze, and deliver decision-quality results at the speed the DoW requires to field advancements that continue to outpace our adversaries. STR's approach will emphasize product‑based delivery of test solutions via an experienced, trusted team that can rapidly adapt to evolving customer needs.

What you will do:

  • Assemble and lead cross-functional teams of domain experts to design and develop complex, secure testing campaigns, Be responsible for this team, and external additional components and personnel, during all aspects of the campaign
  • Research, identify, and understand new technical approaches and work with program and technical leadership to implement these approaches
  • Engage customers in problem definition, solution concept ideation, and concepts for testing in a diverse set of conditions. Decompose customer needs/complex problems and develop system concepts and solutions
  • Engage with authorities and government officials to ensure compliance with regulations and laws governing all aspects of the testing campaign
  • Develop and maintain effective external relationships with customers, primes, subcontractors, and suppliers to support customer objectives and strengthen STR's business partnerships
  • Effectively use tools to create, evaluate, and document solutions and clearly communicate the solution to the team, STR management, and customers
  • Build and grow team capability through coaching, mentoring, and creating development opportunities
  • Extensive travel to the Las Vegas area will be required

Who you are:

  • This position requires an Active Top Secret security clearance with eligibility to support special access programs (SAP), for which U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Expert understanding of multi-domain, complex testing methodologies and their principles of design, development, requirements verification, test planning, test execution, operational security, and operations support
  • Experience with Development and Operational testing across Western Test Ranges (CA, NV, UT, CO)
  • Experience in preparing and delivering high-level briefings to customers and senior management. Interacting with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into an end-to-end solution
  • Demonstrated experience in leadership and delivery of advanced development projects
  • Demonstrated experience in working with both internal leadership and external customers in the development and execution of technology and system development programs
  • Strong background interacting with customers and decision-makers, preparing and delivering technical briefings, and translating mission needs into end-to-end solutions; familiarity with technical reviews (SRRs, PDRs, CDRs, TIMs) and cross-functional collaboration
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years; Master's degree and at least 8 years; or PhD and at least 5 years of applicable experience directly related to Research, Development, Testing, and Experimentation (RDT&E)
  • 5+ years of work experience as a Developmental or Operational Test Engineer
  • Experience with risk management and safety
  • Strong background in Cyber and RF testing
  • Working knowledge of DoD and IC missions and acquisition processes
  • Familiarity of United States Code regulating Armed Forces and National Defense

Full-Time Salary Range: $216,000 - $295,000

The salary range listed is based on external market data. Offers are based on factors, such as but not limited to, the candidate's experience, education, training, key skills/critical skills, security clearances, and prevailing market and business conditions.
